All aboard the “Yelp cruise ship”….
Community Manager of Yelp Dallas, Frances G, put together an amazing party for Yelp Elite that allowed us to venture through spas and restaurants to learn about new businesses around Cedar Springs. Upon arriving at Ilume, we signed in and enjoyed a keg provided by Axiom Sushi (much thanks!). Once everybody arrived, we split into two grounds and began our “cruise ship” which can also be called a party bus. I must mention that this party bus also provided a cooler full of more beer. The goal of the night was to get our “passport” stamped (read: signed by the business owner) at each business. Here we go….
Our first stop was Advanced Skin Fitness, we learned about the different treatments that are provided and watched a lady get Dysport treatments right in front of us! (You must see this video.) As you will see the procedure took less than a couple minutes and looked practically painless, who would have known? Advanced Skin Fitness was nice enough to allow us to pop some champagne and venture through their spa. To end our adventure here, the director allowed people to come up and see our skin damage through their cameras. I opted out of this opportunity, I didn’t want to face the truth. Our passport was stamped and we were on our way to the next destination.
We got back on our cruise ship and went to our next stop, DISH Lounge. We were greeted by the event planner and found a seat on the patio. The first item on the menu was Fire Roasted Shishito served with Green Herb Aioli and Red Salt. Although the peppers were not filling, they had a lot of flavor and spice for a light appetizer. Next was mushroom flatbread and pepperoni flatbread and then the most delicious Calamari ever. Spiced Appletinis was the Yelp drink at DISH and it was tasty but I wish I would have read that the drink was spiced before ordering. There is always a next time! To get our passport stamped at DISH, we had a fellow Yelper head to the uni-sex bathroom and take a picture. Done.
Our group walked next door to Onyx Nail Bar, a 4000 square foot nail salon that has a full service bar that’s completely complimentary to customers. Not only does this nail salon have a full bar, they have a DJ booth and sound system that will rival most Dallas clubs. Talk about a party! Our mission at the Onyx Nail Bar was to have one the men in our group “man up” and get a manicure. Surprisingly, more than one jumped at the opportunity. Our volunteer got his mani then we were on our way to Ilume Gallerie. Ilume Gallerie was beautiful. There were tons of great pieces of art, including jewelry, sculptures and paintings. There was so much going on at our stop here and Axiom Sushi that I missed the passport missions (oops!).
Our last stop on our cruise was Axiom Sushi. We were welcomed with open arms and plates full of sushi and appetizers. Veev, the world’s first Acai spirit, was served liberally to all. While everybody from my group headed back to Ilume to finish the night, I opted to stay at Sushi Axiom for more sushi and spirits. The night was spectacular and Frances did an amazing job.
