Baked Texas French Toast

Blog· Food and Drinks

There’s one thing we like to do around my house and it’s eat breakfast for dinner. To be honest, I’m not a morning person so I’m not usually up early enough to make something good. I like breakfast items that I can grab and go. Because of that reason, we have a favorite in our house – Texas French Toast.

There are nights that I just don’t feel like cooking or I have too much going on. My Texas French Toast recipe is great to make a head and pop into the oven whenever you’re ready (which is why it’s a favorite in my house).

Another reason I love this recipe is that I almost always have these ingredients in my kitchen. The recipe doesn’t call for any crazy ingredients so no need to head to the grocery store! Baked Texas French Toast 1Baked Texas French Toast

Here are the ingredients you need.

  • 1/2 cup melted butter (1 stick)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 loaf Texas toast
  • 4 Lonestar Eggs
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Powdered sugar for sprinkling

Melt butter in microwave & add brown sugar, stir until mixed. Pour butter/sugar mix into bottom of a greased 9 x 13 pan. Spread around evenly.Texas French Toast Baked

Now gather your 4 Lonestar Eggs and beat together with milk, & vanilla. Lonestar Eggs are our go-to eggs for many reasons. They’re a local company and the eggs are locally sourced to celebrate the people of Texas who share the pride to buy all things local. The hens that laid the eggs are even Texans! It’s safe to say, Texans stick together! Texas French Toast Baked

Texas French Toast BakedSticking with our Texas theme, the next thing we’re going to do take our Texas toast and make a single layer on the bottom of the pan. Notice how thick the toast is? Texas toast is the best! Things are bigger (and better in Texas) like the Lonestar Eggs we added. They only come in Extra Large! Texas French Toast BakedIf you prefer, you can cut the crust off of the Texas toast. If I’m making it for my family, I’ll usually leave it on but if I am making it for a party or guests, I’ll cut it off. Texas French Toast BakedDepending on the size of your dish, you may have to cut your Texas toast. I cut 4 pieces and half and were able to fit them nicely on the sides. Once you had the layer of bread in the dish, spoon 1/2 of egg mixture on bread layer. Add 2nd layer of Texas Toast and spread the rest of the egg mixture on top. Now take 2 T of brown sugar and 1 t of cinnamon mixed together and sprinkle on top. Texas French Toast BakedNow cover it tightly with foil and place in your refrigerator overnight. The next morning (or night) when you’re ready to eat the French Toast all you have to do is set your oven to 350 degrees and bake for 30 minutes with the foil on and then take the foil off and bake another 10 minutes.  Not only is this the best baked Texas French Toast ever, it will make your whole entire house smell amazing. Texas French Toast BakedYou can eat your Texas French toast with syrup but in my opinion it didn’t even need it! It depends on how sweet your like your french toast. If you want to add some more flavor, serve with a side of strawberries and enjoy!

What’s your go-to breakfast?

We should not eat our breakfast in a hurry. We should eat our breakfast properly, it adds up to our health.
