First Look: blo Blow Dry Bar

Blow dry bars might be the greatest invention ever. I remember when the Dry Bar came to town, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. There are multiple reasons that I love getting my hair blown out. Not only does my hair last for days when I get a professional to blow it out, but I can’t style it like they can. For $40, I don’t mind paying someone to do my hair since I know I’ll walk out of the salon with supermodel hair.

I recently visited the newest blow dry bar in town, blo. Blo is owned by Gwyneth Paltrow. Blo is North America’s Original Blow Dry Bar. No cuts, no color: Just WASH BLOW GO. Guests choose from 7 styles featured in the Blo Hair Menu, from the razor-straight “Executive Sweet” to the runway-inspired “Pillow Talk”. It all started in 2007 with a vital question: “Why isn’t there a place for quick, affordable catwalk-quality blow outs?” They’ve been coifing ever since. Currently, Blo has 45+ locations to serve you across North America, and the Philippines, with more than 10 more locations expected to open in the DFW metroplex!

Upon entering, you’ll notice blo has a different feel than more blow dry bars. It’s more edgy, but I like it. Decorated in grey and hot pink, uplifting sayings are on the walls throughout. One of my favorites is the ‘Hello, gorgeous’ once you walk in.

Since I love BIG Texas hair, I chose the “Holly Would” hairstyle. Let me tell you, I’ve never had curls so big in my entire life and I loved it! Not only was my hair big but it lasted 4 days. I still had curls after 4 days! The only reason it didn’t last it was because I thought maybe I should wash my hair after that long.  Judge me, if you want 🙂

Here’s my before picture (conveniently taken in their bathroom). Notice my hair is naturally wavy, dirty and in need of some LOVE. My hair is not only wavy and crazy, I have tons of it. I have pity on anyone who has to blow it out because God knows they are getting an awesome arm work out!

Now that is what I call an amazing blow out! Blo is located at Knox/75 and all of their blow outs are only $40. If you’re looking for a fun place to get pampered and leave looking like a celeb, this is your place. (I forgot to mention they serve champagne and chocolate – could this place be any better?)
