Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies

Baking is by far one of my favorite things to do. Although I’m not a huge fan of sweets, I love to make them. Don’t get me wrong, I will eat sweets and enjoy every minute of it but I don’t crave them and it’s easy for me to say no to. My husband is the opposite of me, I call him the cookie monster. I’ve never seen anyone love sweets quite like he does. It works out perfectly since I love to make them and he loves to eat them.

My go to recipe when we want a quick sweet fix is homemade chocolate chip cookies. There is something about chocolate chip cookies that warms the soul. It’s also a delicious recipe when made from scratch. We always have the ingredients needed for the recipe so we make them often. Who can say no to homemade cookies?

I recently added a fun new tech item to my kitchen – The KitchenAid® Artisan® Mini Mixer. The iconic KitchenAid® Stand Mixer you know and love, is now 20% smaller and 25% lighter* making it great for smaller kitchens. With a 3.5-Qt bowl to make up to 5 dozen cookies and with over 10 available attachments, make everything from fresh pasta to burgers, veggie noodles and more.

This smaller mixer takes up less counterspace, is lighter in weight so you can easily move it around your kitchen and has the same iconic design and power as our other tilt-head stand mixers. I have the full size mixer too and it’s amazing to see the mini have just as much power than the larger model.
The NEW Artisan Mini Stand Mixer is 20% smaller and 25% lighter, making it the ideal culinary tool for smaller spaces and kitchens. Though mini in size, the NEW Mini Stand Mixer can make up to 5 dozen cookies in it’s 3.5 quart stainless steel bowl. Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened (2 sticks of butter)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups  all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ºF.
  2. Mix together flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. 
  3. In a mixer, combine sugars, butter, vanilla and egg.
  4. Mix until creamy.
  5. Add in flour mixture slowly. 
  6. Stir in chocolate chips.
  7. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  8. Bake 9-11 minutes.
  9. Cool on wire rack
  10. Enjoy 🙂

I usually pull my cookies out about a minute early because we like ours more soft than hard. When I pull them out, they almost look like they are still raw but once they sit for a few minutes they harden and become the most delicious soft cookies ever. I’ll sometimes throw in my pecans depending on my mood but either way, they’re so good.

I know this year has dragged on and on for many pe I know this year has dragged on and on for many people but it has flown by to me. I'm 100% sure it has something to do with welcoming Myles into this world during the height of a pandemic and keeping a toddler alive at the same time.  I can't wait for Christmas morning to make memories with my little family (even though Christmas shopping isn't complete and I haven't even thought about wrapping presents). It will all fall in to place, it always does. We didn't attend our favorite Christmas events this year or get pictures with Santa so this random Santa picture will do and I'm 100% happy with it.  If this year has taught you anything,  let it be finding the joy in the little things ❤
The holidays are quickly approaching! 🎄 Althoug The holidays are quickly approaching! 🎄 Although things might be a bit different this season, we're still enjoying some of our favorite foods and traditions. This year we're incorporating ordering family meal kits from @chuysrestaurant for not only my family but extended family that we might not be able to hang with this holiday. Family pictures are always so much fun.... this ye Family pictures are always so much fun.... this year we got to attempt it twice thanks to sweet Bryce.  Thankfully the second time around he cooperated. As painful as they may be,  I'm so glad we get these done every year. I love looking back at them and see how much we've all changed and how much the kids have grown!

Your child gets to fully immerse themselves into role playing any job they can imagine. From checking animals at the veterinarian, putting out fires as a firefighter,  flying planes in an simulator, creating their own personal logo with Bic, or being a weatherman at WFAA - the options are endless! Kidzania activities are for ages 4 and up.

We felt very comfortable inside with their safety protocols. Temperatures were checked before entering.  Everybody ages 4 and up must wear a mask.  Hand sanitizer was readily available throughout the entire space.  If you're looking for a fun outlet for your child to explore, check it out!
