For years (yes, years) now, I’ve been wanting a Nest. My husband and I have talked about it multiple times but we were fine with the thermostat that we had an couldn’t justify upgrading since we were having no problems with what we have. You know that old saying, “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it,” that’s the exact mindset we had.
What we didn’t know is what we were really missing out on. We have two air conditioning units which means two thermostats and when it came time to replace one, I knew I had to jump on the Nest bandwagon.
Out with the old, in with the new
I did a happy dance when my Nest Thermostat arrived. I couldn’t wait to get it installed and start using it. I opened the box and thought “yikes” because I just knew it was going to be difficult to install. I let it sit in the box about a week until my husband took charge and installed it while I was out of town. Much to our surprise, it took more time to take off our old thermostat than it did to install the Nest. In less than 10 minutes, the Nest was installed and ready to change our world. Now that we’ve had it a while, I wanted to share my favorite features on the Nest. 
Easy to Install – Installed in less than 10 minutes with no new holes or damage to my drywall. (That might seem minor, but anytime I try to hang anything, my walls gets destructed!) 
Learns your habits – Within a week, the Nest learning thermostat starts programming itself. It learns your habits and adjusts automatically, regulating your home’s temperature based on your schedule – which can save you energy and money.
Away Mode – When you’re not at home (the “Away” mode), it will automatically switch to an energy-efficient temperature. In independent studies, the Nest saved an average of 10-12% on heating and 15% on cooling bills. Hello, extra money!
Track Usage – The Next tracks how much you’ve used and provides tips that will help you conserve. Make an energy-saving temperature adjustment and the Nest Leaf will notify you immediately.
Rebates – Some companies will actually give you a rebate for using a Nest. That should be a reason in itself to buy one. To see if your company gives one, go to Nest.Com and enter your electricity company!
Manage from smart phone – Never come home to a cold house. You can easily turn down the temp when traveling, or set it to warm up your home before you come home
