Nutcracker Rice Krispie Treats

Blog· Food and Drinks

There is something about the holidays that makes every one feel the need to bake all the time. Are you one of those people? I most definitely am! This year has been a bit wild and I’m sad I haven’t been in the kitchen baking as much as previous years. I usually bake late at night after everybody has gone to sleep but it seems that no one in my house has been sleeping normal hours. Instead of making excuses, I decided to go all in with some fun holiday baking.

Rice Krispie Treats are usually on the top of my list for a few reasons. One main reason is that they’re so easy to make. It’s a treat that is really hard to mess up and everybody loves them. To make things more festive this year, we decided to decorate our rice krispie treats for the holidays by turning them into Nutcrackers! I’m not an artistic person and can’t draw to save my life, but any body can decorate these treats and have them turn out cute.

This is a great recipe to make with your littles and let them explore and experiment in the kitchen. It’s hard to mess up.

Nutcracker Rice Krispie Treats

Ingredients:

  • 1 Box of Rice Krispy Treats, unwrapped and set aside
  • 1 tube of black cookie icing
  • 1 tube of red cookie icing
  • 1 tube of white cookie icing
  • 1 tube of yellow cookie icing
  • 1 container of gold peal dust (Found in Michaels cake decorating isle)
  • 1 Package of Mustache sprinkles (Found in Hobby Lobby cake decorating isle)
  • 4 disposable piping bags fitted with a number 2 tip
  • 1 disposable piping bag fitted with a small star tip
  • 1 small fine tip paint brush

Directions

  1. Squeeze the Black, Red, and Yellow cookie icing into one of the piping bags fitted with a number 2 tip
  2. Squeeze the white icing into the last number 2 tip piping bag and the small star tip piping bag
  3. Using the black piping bag pipe a line along the top of the rice krispy to create the hat for the Nutcracker
  4. Using the red piping bag, pipe the line shown in the in-process picture and fill in with the red icing
  5. Using the white icing, fill in the little square shown in the in-process images
  6. Pipe a small dot onto the back of the mustache and place into the lower center of the rice krispy
  7. Pipe 2 dots above the mustache for the eyes
  8. Using the yellow icing, pipe a upside down triangle on the hat
  9. Pipe two yellow dots on both sides of the triangle
  10. Allow to dry for 2 hours
  11. Using the paint brush, dip it into the pearl dust and brush it onto the yellow detail for an extra shimmer.

One of my favorite things about 2020.... businesse One of my favorite things about 2020.... businesses adapting and making things work! I was recently introduced to @savageburritos and I'm in love. Savage Burritos is the love child of Uncle Julios so it you like UJ, you'll love Savage. They are a delivery only service offering burritos and bowls from select Uncle Julio kitchens in DFW. We ordered a variety of items from burritos, bowls, queso and more. Every single item was bursting with flavor. If you like spicy, I highly recommend the Nashville Hot Chicken Burrito. 🔥 Don't forget to add on a Margarita pop - nothing beats alcohol and Mexican food delivered straight to your door!

I know this year has dragged on and on for many pe I know this year has dragged on and on for many people but it has flown by to me. I'm 100% sure it has something to do with welcoming Myles into this world during the height of a pandemic and keeping a toddler alive at the same time. I can't wait for Christmas morning to make memories with my little family (even though Christmas shopping isn't complete and I haven't even thought about wrapping presents). It will all fall in to place, it always does. We didn't attend our favorite Christmas events this year or get pictures with Santa so this random Santa picture will do and I'm 100% happy with it. If this year has taught you anything, let it be finding the joy in the little things ❤
The holidays are quickly approaching! 🎄 Althoug The holidays are quickly approaching! 🎄 Although things might be a bit different this season, we're still enjoying some of our favorite foods and traditions. This year we're incorporating ordering family meal kits from @chuysrestaurant for not only my family but extended family that we might not be able to hang with this holiday. It's a simple way to spread the joy with loved ones, eat delicious food and not forget the reason for the season. #ad #nachoaverageholiday
Family pictures are always so much fun.... this ye Family pictures are always so much fun.... this year we got to attempt it twice thanks to sweet Bryce. Thankfully the second time around he cooperated. As painful as they may be, I'm so glad we get these done every year. I love looking back at them and see how much we've all changed and how much the kids have grown!
Can y'all believe the end of the year is here? We Can y'all believe the end of the year is here? We got our family pictures back and they look great other than the fact that Bryce decided not to participate. We got one shot with my entire family and Bryce is off to the side playing in poison ivy. 🤦‍♀️

Your child gets to fully immerse themselves into role playing any job they can imagine. From checking animals at the veterinarian, putting out fires as a firefighter, flying planes in an simulator, creating their own personal logo with Bic, or being a weatherman at WFAA - the options are endless! Kidzania activities are for ages 4 and up.

We felt very comfortable inside with their safety protocols. Temperatures were checked before entering. Everybody ages 4 and up must wear a mask. Hand sanitizer was readily available throughout the entire space. If you're looking for a fun outlet for your child to explore, check it out!
