A Day at Exhale Spa – Core Barre Class + Facial Review

Blog· Entertainment· Reviews

Have you heard all the buzz about Barre classes?

When I heard about these classes, I ignored the craze. I have many friends who are in to Cross Fit or Zumba, but I’ve never been one to jump on the band wagon. I stick to my normal workout routine and leave everything else alone. Honestly, I should pay more attention to all other types of training because of the awesome results that they produce. So I signed up for a class at Exhale Spa located at Hotel Palomar for a Core Barre Class.

Exhale Spa Dallas

I had no idea what to expect, I watched a couple short clips about Barre classes on youtube and that’s about it. The videos didn’t look easy, but they didn’t truly express how good of a workout I was going to get.  Here’s the details from Exhale Spa about what the Core Barre class entails:

Fusing the disciplines of core conditioning, Pilates, the Lotte Berk Method, and yoga, this highly acclaimed transformational fitness experience incorporates 50 years of collective teacher expertise. It allows you to work from the inside out, consistently delivering results, including washboard abs, a tighter and higher backside, and a perfectly toned body. This class is open to all levels and no experience is required.

My class started at noon, so I checked in around 11:50am at Exhale Spa.  They knew it was my first class so the instructor went over what we would using during class and expressed that if I needed to modify any of the workouts that it wasn’t a big deal and to ask if I needed any help. I felt confident that the class would not be easy but that I wouldn’t have any difficulties during the next hour. The class had a mixture of workouts from doing planks on the floor, push ups using the Barre, lifting free weights and more.

I loved that every few minutes we were switching things up, not only because it keeps the class moving but because my muscles were ready to collapse. Every exercise that we did worked our muscle to the point of exhaustion. After each set my muscles would be shaking. Not everyone in the class is as out of shape as I am, so many of the women in there seemed to have no problems. There’s nothing like working out next to a lady who is 30+ years older than you performing the workout with no problems while your body is ready to give up. Yes, it’s embarrassing but it gave me motivation to work just as hard. There was a mix of ladies who took the class, from experts to beginners (and no, I wasn’t the only beginner).

I didn’t once feel out of place even though it was my first class. My instructor was beyond encouraging and helped with my poses and posture whenever she could. By the end of the class, my body was done. My body didn’t hurt but I could feel my muscles wanting to collapse on me which means I had an amazing workout.

Once the Barre class was done, I headed upstairs to the locker room for some R&R before my facial appointment. The Exhale Spa locker room was amazing, my favorite feature was the steam room. I sometimes truly think that I only work out to sit in the sauna afterwards.  I probably shouldn’t tell people that but it’s the honest truth.

I know you’re not suppose to take pictures inside of the locker room but I snapped a few while no one was in there. The locker room pleasantly surprised me with razors, lotions, and hair accessories, in case you forgot your own. Planning ahead isn’t my strong suit, so when spas have all the necessities, it makes me one happy girl.

Once it was time for my facial, I sat in a waiting area and read magazines while consuming tons of water since I was so thirsty after my Core Barre Class. My esthetician, Meagan, took me to the room. The bed was heated and relaxed me even more – if that was even possible. Meagan asked about my skin, if I had any allergies, and what my concerns were.  She was the sweetest lady. I really liked that she didn’t talk too much, she kept conversation at a minimum. I love talking as much as the next person, but not when I’m getting a facial. My facial lasted a little bit over an hour which was great timing. It allowed me to relax and not feel rushed, but I wasn’t in there too long being bored. Meagan suggested a few products for my skin but wasn’t pushy at all. It’s so annoying after your spa service when people try to sell you tons of products and are pushy, Meagan was the complete opposite. She informed me about my skin type and what products would help it but left it at that.

Unfortunately, it was time to leave Exhale Spa after my facial. I did spend a large amount of my day there and it was just what I needed. On my way downstairs to check out with the receptionist, my quads gave out on me and I almost tumbled down the stairs. The Core Barre class is no joke and I would do it again in a heart beat. I’m looking forward to my next class. If you’re looking for a new workout routine, give it a try!

Sound so relaxing… I have not been to the spa in a while. I use to be a regular but not the kids take up most of my time. I going to have to try this out real soon.
