Unlike most people, I actually enjoy grocery shopping. Maybe it’s because I’m not married and don’t have children to worry about. Cooking is one of the most relaxing things for me to do (especially with my slight pinterest addiction) so I’m at the grocery store more often than not.
Tom Thumb is my “go to” grocery store, mainly out of habit. It’s makes a shopping trip much easier when you know the store like the back of your hand. The last few times I’ve been in, they’ve had employees and computers set up to help customer sign up for their “Just for U” savings program. As much as I love the idea of coupon-ing, I’m just not that organized or prepared so I rejected the employees every time they asked me to join. The more I went to Tom Thumb, the more curious I became about the program. People were signing up, so it must be good, right?
Well, I did exactly what I was trying to avoid – I signed up for their digital coupon program. So now that I’m signed up, I needed to figure out how it worked and if it was actually worth my time. After signing up and adding the app to my phone, I was ready to go shopping (and hopefully save money)! You can save money two different ways: use the just for U app on your phone and selecting items while shopping at the store or select items online at the convenience of your home before shopping at the store.
I suggest that you do both, download the app and review sales online before heading to the store. Online you can browse different savings and add them directly to your Tom Thumb card without ever having to print off a coupon again. The deals that are offered on your account are “Just for U,” so your deals may be different than your friend’s deals. Everything on your account is based on your purchase history with Tom Thumb, so the savings are altered to help you save more on the items that you buy the most. Genius.
If you get to the store and realize that you forgot to add one of the digital coupons, all you have to do it pull up your app and search for the deal. Once you find the deal, you can add it to your card instantly and it’s ready to use. There is no lag time. If you don’t have a smart phone or aren’t very tech savvy, there are computers at each store for you to use and any employee will be more than happy to help you.
