Attending blogging conferences is one of my favorite things to do. It’s a great way to meet people that you have been talking to online for years, connect with brands that you love and to learn all about the industry. I’m lucky enough that I have a sister that does the same exact thing that I do. She blogs at Digital Mom Blog and has shown me the ropes. She is actually the one who got me started in all of this craziness back in 2009. I’ve always heard great things about Mom 2.0 Summit and it’s been on my bucket list to attend. Since it has the word ‘mom’ in it, I never thought about going because I have no children (only fur babies). After talking with other bloggers who have attended, they convinced me that Mom 2.0 Summit was not just for moms and that it was a conference that was worth going to. So, when the opportunity arose, I jumped on it.
I forgot to mention that Mom 2.0 Summit was being held in the beautiful Laguna Beach at the Ritz Carlton. Not only was the service spectacular and the views breathtaking, my sister’s company was sending her to the same conference. That means my weekend just got that much better. We landed and all I could do was stare at our amazing view. Is this real life and why have I not visited sooner?
To kick off Mom 2.0 Summit, we had a bohemian themed party once the sun set. Theme parties are the best parties, the decorations were out of this world and drinks weren’t too shabby either.
There are many reasons that I enjoy blog conferences and each conference is different. Some conferences are great to reconnect with old friends, other conferences are great to expand your knowledge in a certain area and some conferences are great to connect with brands that you love. Mom 2.0 Summit did all three of those for me, which was a pleasant surprise. The conference kicked off with a keynote speech sponsored by Dove. If you’ve ever watched TV or scrolled through Facebook, you’ve seen one of Dove’s amazing videos about self worth, loving ourselves and confidence. The keynote speech was just like that and instilled a bit of confidence and reassurance in me about my self worth and being an empowered woman. One of the sessions I was most excited about was a you tube session with the one and only, GloZell Green. If you haven’t watched her videos, you are missing out. If I ever need a good laugh, watch her cinnamon challenge video. You will not regret it! After the sessions, I would hang out in the Best Buy suite. It was packed full of appliances that I need in my house not to mention the suite was overlooking Laguna Beach. There were a few items that really stood out to me. I’m obsessed with activity trackers. Since I work on a computer all day long, I’m usually stuck in a chair without much movement which is not optimal. By wearing an activity tracker, I’m able to know exactly how much I’m moving and it’s always a good motivator to see get up and go for a walk. I wore a all weekend and instantly fell in love with it. I love that my looks like a regular watch, it pairs perfectly with my everyday outfits and can be dressed up or down. Although it looks like a watch, it has many more functions. There are no buttons or lights to unscramble. No need to check your phone at every moment. The analog subdial gives you continuous, clear insights on your daily activity progress.
Like any good fitness tracker, it has an app that easily syncs from your phone to device. Activité Steel automatically synchronizes with the Health Mate app so you can get a detailed picture of your days and nights via clear color-coded graphs that show all your moves — from sleep cycle analysis to calories burned.
On the patio at Best Buy, I found an amazing product that I know my husband (and any beer drinker) would absolutely love. This machine will turn any beer that you already have in your house into a perfect pour with just the right amount of head which makes the beer taste like it is straight from out of the tap. The simple system uses a straw placed in the bottle to draw out the beer as you pour. This Fizzics beer system is insulated to keep your beer cold for up to 12 hours.
The show stopper (in my opinion) is the . Family Hub helps you manage your home and your life, with Food Management, Family Connection and Entertainment capabilities – all controlled from a 21.5 Wi-Fi enabled touchscreen on a beautiful 4-Door Flex Refrigerator. I recently received this same refrigerator at my house and I can not wait to show you all of the amazing features. I’m still trying to figure out what I like about it most.
I love small appliances and have more than enough in my house. One of my very favorite small appliances is my Vacuum Robot. I never thought I needed one but quickly learned how much time it was saving me each day by vacuuming my house for me. I set it up on a timer and it vacuums daily without me even lifting a finger. I have three dogs and a cat so my house is constantly dirty and dusty. I used to sweep and vacuum my house at least a few hours each week but not anymore. The is a device that everybody needs in their life no matter if you live in an apartment or a house. All good things must come to an end. My flight back to Dallas got canceled and rescheduled due to bad weather in Texas, so I got to sneak in one more day at Laguna Beach. Trust me, it wasn’t a bad place to get stuck. I’m looking forward to my next Mom Summit with Best Buy!
