5 DIY Starbucks Holiday Drink Recipes

Blog· Food and Drinks

Being around for over 40 years is part of what helped Starbucks raise to the top as the world’s top coffee retailed. With over 16,850 shops in 40 countries, Starbucks has tested their fair share of drinks and gained more loyal customers than imaginable.

The average Starbucks customer visits the store 6 times per month while a loyal 20% of customers go to the stores 16 times per month. Many customers head into Starbucks to get the day started or to keep pushing through a long day.  A Starbucks grande coffee has 320 milligrams of caffeine, over four times the amount of caffeine in a Red Bull. I love me a good cup of coffee but I’m obsessed with making and trying to mock recipes. I’ve found 5 DIY Starbucks Holiday Drinks that are worth a try.

Starbucks Gingerbread Latte

Starbucks Gingerbread Latte

Warm up to the Starbucks Gingerbread Latte. This classic recipe is perfect for the cooler weather and holiday season.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fresh espresso
  • 8 ounces milk, steamed (with a little foam)
  • whipped cream
  • ground nutmeg

Instructions

    1. Make the gingerbread syrup by combining water, sugar, ginger, cinnamon and vanilla in a medium saucepan. Make sure your pan is large enough so the mixture won’t boil over
    2. Bring mixture to a boil then reduce heat and simmer syrup, uncovered, for 15 minutes. Remove the syrup from the heat when it’s done and put a lid on it.
    3. Make a double shot of espresso (1/2 cup), using an espresso machine. Use the machine to steam 8 ounces of milk, or heat up the milk in the microwave if your machine does not foam and steam milk.
    4. Make your latte by first adding 1/2 cup espresso to a 16-ounce cup. Add 1/4 cup gingerbread syrup, followed by the steamed milk. Stir.
    5. Top off the drink with a dollop of whipped cream, and a sprinkle of nutmeg. Serve immediately.

I made the Gingerbread Latte, is really good. Wasn't brave enough before to try it at Starbucks. The only thing I didn't have was whipped cream and when I added the nutmeg my milk bubbled for a second then stirred itself into the espresso.

Yum!! Although I don’t drink coffee, these definitely are some ideas for hot cocoa, which I even drink in the summer!! I would have never considered putting ginger or pumpkin in it, but it sounds delish!!

Need help! Recipe says 1/4 tsp peppermint. In directions 2 and 5 it states in each to add 1.5 tsp. I think that totals 3tsp. How much peppermint extract should I use – 1/4 tsp or the 1.5 and 1.5tsp? Thanks for the clarification!

I know this year has dragged on and on for many pe I know this year has dragged on and on for many people but it has flown by to me. I'm 100% sure it has something to do with welcoming Myles into this world during the height of a pandemic and keeping a toddler alive at the same time. I can't wait for Christmas morning to make memories with my little family (even though Christmas shopping isn't complete and I haven't even thought about wrapping presents). It will all fall in to place, it always does. We didn't attend our favorite Christmas events this year or get pictures with Santa so this random Santa picture will do and I'm 100% happy with it. If this year has taught you anything, let it be finding the joy in the little things ❤
