The first session of Ford Trends was all about the Future of Sustainable Cities. The speakers took us a little deeper into what the future could mean with challenges such as natural resources scarcity, pollution impacting our health and the way we will live and commute.
This session brings together innovators that are currently working to rebuild cities for the future.
- Stone Librande is the Lead Designer of Riot Games. You might know him from all of the amazing work he has done with the ever so popular game Sim City.
- Pashon Murray is the founder of Detroit Dirt. She is working to reduce the carbon footprint of Detroit by revitalizing neighborhoods, finding solutions to reuse or recycle everyday waste and reducing landfill use.
- Piyush Tewari is the founder and CEO of SaveLife Foundation, a non profit organization committed to improving road safety and emergency medical care across India.
- Mike Tinksey is the Global Director, Electrification & Infrastructure at Ford Motor Company. He leads Ford’s sustainability work for electric vehicles, energy and infrastructure.

Ford Motor Company is poised to redefine the way the world moves. One experiment they are working on with Georgia Institute of Technology is Parking Spotter. This is something that I know everybody would love. It works to leverage driver assist sensors that already exist in most Ford vehicles, including sonar and radar. The sensors search for open parking spaces while the driver looks for spots around the city. The information is then shared with a cloud database other drivers can then access – helping to reduce fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.
Is this something that you would like to see happen in the future?
