Owning your own business is both extremely satisfying and also very stressful at times. You learn to take the good with the bad and keep moving forward no matter what. I’ve learned that if I don’t take the time to take care of myself, I go in a downward slope. I start stressing out, my anxiety levels shoot straight up and I become very irritable.
To be honest, most of my excuses are “I don’t have time” or “I am too busy today.” How many times have you caught yourself using that excuse? I didn’t realize how much I use that excuse but it must come to a stop. We all need to MAKE time to treat ourselves. Every one has 24 hours in a day, there is no reason not to spend an hour or two doing something that you want to do.
I put my foot down and went for a massage. As much as I love getting my nails and hair done, nothing is more relaxing than laying in a dark, quiet room while someone is massaging your back. There are so many benefits to getting a massage, it’s crazy. Not that you NEED a reason to treat yourself, I’ve made a list of why reasons why you SHOULD go for a massage.
- Relieves Pain
- Reduces Stress
- It forces you to relax
- Improves attitude
- Improves posture
- Releases endorphins
- Decreases anxiety
- Decreases depression
- Improves circulation
- Increases range of motion
- Breaks down adhesions
- Boosts immunity
- Lowers blood pressure
- Flushes toxins
- Regulates blood sugar levels
- YOU DESERVE IT
I recently took the time to get a massage at Massage Envy. It didn’t take anytime for me to feel relaxed. Upon entering, I filled out 2 sheets of paper than took less than a few minutes. The paperwork asked generic questions such as medical history and if there were any areas of concern for your massage. Within minutes, I was taken back with my therapist into my massage room. The room was dark and cozy. The therapist quickly went over the paperwork that I filled out and asked a few questions regarding my massage.
My 50 minute Swedish massage was exactly what I needed. It was not only great for my back (which had been bothering me all week) but it was 50 minutes that I was able to spend doing nothing. It was a time that I could relax and not feel stressed that I’m making my deadline and a time that I could clear my mind and do nothing. The peace and serenity felt after a massage is priceless which is why I’m urging you all to take the time and pamper yourself! You deserve it!
If you feel like paying it forward, check out the Healing Hands for Arthritis Event held at Massage Envy on September 17th. $10 from every massage on that day will be donated to the arthritis foundation.

I never had a professional massage. However, if I win, I would rather give this opportunity to my Dad. He needs it more than me.
