Tropical Coconut Sunrise Made with Moonshine

Blog· Food and Drinks

This post is sponsored by Babbleboxx on behalf of Sugarlands Distilling Company. All opinions are my own, not let’s get some drinks!

Summer time is in full swing here in Texas and it’s hot. If you haven’t traveled to Texas in the middle of the year, you will find lots of humidity and people flocking for the air conditioning. While I love the air conditioning, one of my favorite ways to cool off is with an ice cold drink.

Like most people, I tend to order the same drink every time we are out or have my ‘go-to drink’ at home. I have no problem ordering or making new drinks, but getting the same thing every time makes me feel confident that I will like my drink every single time. It’s so silly, but it’s true. I’ve been on a mission to start trying new drinks but life is too short to not explore. Lately, I’ve been on a moonshine kick.

If I am going to be completely honest, the first time I tried moonshine I wasn’t a huge fan so I didn’t buy it for a while but I decided to give it another try. After giving it another try,  I was more than happy with the taste and was pleasantly surprised. I learned that moonshine can come in so many different flavors, everything from peach to sweet tea to pumpkin latte.

After learning about so many, we collected all we could from Sugarlands Shine Distillery, a full functioning distillery located just outside the Great Smoky Mountains in downtown Gatlinburg, Tennessee. If you ever are in the area, you must stop by this entertainment venue to sample their spirits, take a behind the scene tour and enjoy live music!

While I would love to be in Gatlinburg, we brought the moonshine to us and had so much fun making out of this world drinks with a few simple ingredients.

I love drinks that remind me of the beach and tropical islands so I’m usually ordering drinks that have coconut and pineapple juice in them. I wanted to make my one but with moonshine and I put together the most delicious Tropical Coconut Sunrise only using three ingredients!

Not only is this drink so refreshing, it’s gorgeous and perfect for the Summertime! It’s one of those drinks that will impress all of your guests but the exciting part is that it is not difficult to make. I used the Sugarlands Shine Pina Colada Moonshine for this recipe. It’s full of flavor and so good that you could drink it straight. Those are the types of drinks you have to watch out for because you don’t need much to start feeling good.

Now, let’s make this delicious Tropical Coconut Sunrise.

Ingredients:

  • Ice
  • One shot of Sugarlands Shine Pina Colada
  • Pineapple Juice
  • Grenadine (cherry syrup)

Directions:

  1. Fill your glass with ice. Most people have a preference on how much ice is in their alcoholic beverage. I tend to fill all the drinks I make about half way with ice so there is plenty of room for the good stuff.
  2. Pour in 1 shot glass full of Sugarlands Shine Pina Colada Moonshine.
  3. Pour in approximately 1 cup of pineapple juice.
  4. Mix the pineapple juice and moonshine together.
  5. Pour in approximately 2 tablespoons of grenadine on the side of the cup instead of the middle of the mixture. This will allow it to rest straight to the bottom for the sunrise affect.
  6. Enjoy!

This drink is so simple to make but has tons of flavor. It makes me feel like I’m sitting on the beach in Turks enjoying the waves.
