Wildflower Festival brings Music, Arts and Family Fun to Richardson

Blog· Entertainment· Events

richardson arts, richardson festival, wildflower fest

Wildflower! Richardson’s Arts and Music Festival is returning for the 21st year and is set for May 17th – 19th. The Festival started in 1993 as a small community event that celebrated the acres upon acres of wildflowers planted around the city. The festival has grown into a yearly event that everyone in the Dallas area attends. Not only is there lots of amazing art but the music lineup is out of this world.  Don’t believe me? Check out the lineup below.

Friday – May 17, 2013

  • Cowboy Mouth – bits of gospel-punk with shards of Cowpunk
  • Gretchen Wilson – country music’s “Redneck Woman”
  • The Charlie Daniels Band – country and Southern rock music legend
  • Spin Doctors – ‘90s alternative rock band
  • Uncle Kracker – pop/country crossover hitmaker
  • Rocket Man – the Best of Elton John tribute show
  • Eliza Gilkyson – Austin Music Hall of Fame inductee
  • Le Freak – The Greatest Disco Band In The World

Saturday – May 18, 2013

  • Toadies – home grown alt-rock heavyweights
  • The Reverend Horton Heat – country-fed punkabilly
  • Blue Oyster Cult – heavy metal/psychedelic rockers
  • Grand Funk Railroad – hard rock, blues band from the ‘70s
  • .38 Special – southern country / blues rockers
  • Eleven Hundred Springs – Texas country rock band
  • Rocket Man – the Best of Elton John tribute show
  • Slaid Cleaves – iconic singer/songwriter

Sunday – May 19, 2013

  • Jolie Holliday – young and dynamic country musician from Richardson
  • Robert Earl Keen – Texas singer/songwriter
  • Ray Wylie Hubbard – elder statesman of the Texas music scene
  • Terri Hendrix with Lloyd Maines – accomplished Americana singer/songwriter duo
  • Rocket Man– the Best of Elton John tribute show

Don’t miss a beat. Be sure to check the full schedule to see which stage your favorite performer will be at.  Bring your family, this is a family-friendly event.  Head over to the Kidz Korner. This area is a fun and colorful festival stop where kids of all ages will find all kinds of games, activities and entertainment geared just for them. Be a rock star on the “Rock Star” karaoke stage, make a bead bracelet, get your face painted, climb the rock wall, visit the City of Richardson’s petting zoo or jump in a big bounce house!  Don’t forget to stop by the Live butterfly habitat featuring over 150 native Texas butterflies and a display of the monarch butterfly metamorphosis – from egg to larva to chrysalis to adult. Trained volunteers will be on site to help the little ones (and adults) identify the different butterfly species.

Tickets start at $20 for Wildflower Festival but if you’re a Richardson resident, you can purchase them for even cheaper. The best deal is to pay $30 for a three day pass so you can come back each day. There is no way that you’ll cover all the amazing events in one day, so why not make a weekend out of it?  Sunday is half price day (only $10) courtesy of Cisco Systems and kids 12 and under get in free with a purchased adult ticket courtesy of Bank of America.

Who wants to win a FAMILY Four Pack of Tickets (2 adults tickets and 2 children tickets – $46 value)? Enter below. Winner will be sent an email on May 6th. Winner has 24 hours to respond and if not, another winner will be chosen. GOOD LUCK!

One of my favorite things about 2020.... businesse One of my favorite things about 2020.... businesses adapting and making things work! I was recently introduced to @savageburritos and I'm in love. Savage Burritos is the love child of Uncle Julios so it you like UJ, you'll love Savage. They are a delivery only service offering burritos and bowls from select Uncle Julio kitchens in DFW. We ordered a variety of items from burritos, bowls, queso and more. Every single item was bursting with flavor. If you like spicy, I highly recommend the Nashville Hot Chicken Burrito. 🔥 Don't forget to add on a Margarita pop - nothing beats alcohol and Mexican food delivered straight to your door!

Order directly from their site your from your favorite delivery service!
I know this year has dragged on and on for many pe I know this year has dragged on and on for many people but it has flown by to me. I'm 100% sure it has something to do with welcoming Myles into this world during the height of a pandemic and keeping a toddler alive at the same time. I can't wait for Christmas morning to make memories with my little family (even though Christmas shopping isn't complete and I haven't even thought about wrapping presents). It will all fall in to place, it always does. We didn't attend our favorite Christmas events this year or get pictures with Santa so this random Santa picture will do and I'm 100% happy with it. If this year has taught you anything, let it be finding the joy in the little things ❤
The holidays are quickly approaching! 🎄 Althoug The holidays are quickly approaching! 🎄 Although things might be a bit different this season, we're still enjoying some of our favorite foods and traditions. This year we're incorporating ordering family meal kits from @chuysrestaurant for not only my family but extended family that we might not be able to hang with this holiday. It's a simple way to spread the joy with loved ones, eat delicious food and not forget the reason for the season. #ad #nachoaverageholiday
Family pictures are always so much fun.... this ye Family pictures are always so much fun.... this year we got to attempt it twice thanks to sweet Bryce. Thankfully the second time around he cooperated. As painful as they may be, I'm so glad we get these done every year. I love looking back at them and see how much we've all changed and how much the kids have grown!
Can y'all believe the end of the year is here? We Can y'all believe the end of the year is here? We got our family pictures back and they look great other than the fact that Bryce decided not to participate. We got one shot with my entire family and Bryce is off to the side playing in poison ivy. 🤦‍♀️

I wanted to send a quick thank you for all the birthday love yesterday! Birthdays are not my favorite day but it was nice to hear from so many people. Here's to another year around the sun ❤
This weekend we ventured to @kidzaniausa, a city r This weekend we ventured to @kidzaniausa, a city ran completely by kids. Your child gets to fully immerse themselves into role playing any job they can imagine. From checking animals at the veterinarian, putting out fires as a firefighter, flying planes in an simulator, creating their own personal logo with Bic, or being a weatherman at WFAA - the options are endless! Kidzania activities are for ages 4 and up.

We felt very comfortable inside with their safety protocols. Temperatures were checked before entering. Everybody ages 4 and up must wear a mask. Hand sanitizer was readily available throughout the entire space. If you're looking for a fun outlet for your child to explore, check it out!
