Gift Guide for Foodies in Dallas

Blog

Lockharts Dry Rub

One of my favorite restaurants in Dallas, Lockharts Smokehouse, offers dry rub that is to die for. The dry rubs only cost $8 and would be the perfect stocking stuffer (or gift topper) for any Foodie. If they aren’t big into cooking, why not purchase a gift card so they can taste some of the best BBQ in Dallas?

Gina’s Organic Kitchen, a Healthy Alternative

Treat the foodies on your list to the holiday gift of good health in the New Year.  The new Gina’s Organic Kitchen Super Foods café offering delivery, pick-up, eat-in, drop-off catering and around town Health Rescue Unit (food truck) will prepare gift certificates in any dollar denomination.  Proprietor Gina Paterno Villalobos, known as THE ORGANIC COACH™, also plans a series of “Super Tasting, Super Healthy Cooking Classes” including special classes tailored to specific allergies.  Classes range from $75 each to $195 for a series of three.  The series includes a complimentary lecture “Healing Power of Whole Foods.” Gina’s Organic Kitchen is located at 10870 Plano Rd., Dallas TX 75238.

Savor Dallas 2013

Surprise you foodie with tickets to Savor Dallas, Celebration of Food, Wine, Spirits, and the Arts, March 15-16, 2013.  Celebrating its 9th year, this is the largest food and wine event in Texas.  The Friday night Wine Stroll is at the exciting new Perot Museum of Nature and Science, and the Saturday International Grand Tasting is at the beautiful new Irving Convention Center is Las Colinas on the new Dart Rail Orange Line.  Discounts apply to tickets purchased prior to Dec. 31, 2012.

OMG S’mores

Before I tell you all of the great details about OMG S’mores, who wouldn’t want Smores for a present? There is no bad time to have smores. Stacy Fawcett, founder of OMG S’mores, has invented the most genius gift – a smores kit. This kit comes with enough ingredients to make 16 individual smores (graham crackers, marshmallows, Hershey’s chocolate, skewers) and come packaged in a three-foot cylinder. Proceeds from each $15 kit sold provide 16 meals for the North Texas Food Bank. You can purchase OMG S’mores at Whole Foods and Swoozies.

Dude Sweet Chocolate

Located in the Bishops Arts District, Dude Sweet Chocolate offers some of the best chocolates around. Chocolatier Katherine Clapner mixes and matched ingredients such as paprika, habanero, curry and more to make chocolate that will make your mouth water. Her selection is endless, stop by and try one of their many samples. If you want to make your foodie friend laugh, purchase them the “chubby nuts.” (Tub of love from Dude Sweet Chocolate pictures above.)
