Hungry? Don’t feel like cooking? I’ve got just the thing, In the Sack.
This cozy eatery just opened in Uptown (street level of Gables 1700 building), facing American Airlines Center. In the Sack is a different kind of gourmet store, they carry anything one might need for a Friday night at home, a last minute date, picnic in the park, a business lunch in or even a small catered event. The shop offers sundries, energy bars, snacks and drinks and serve breakfast lunch and dinner, they even have a “Walk of Shame” kit! ! Includes a toothbrush, toothpaste, Gatorade, Cliff bar, etc.. In the Sack is open Monday – Saturday 10 am – 9 pm (closed Sundays).
The food is restaurant quality at a fraction of the cost. Executive Chef Dean Liesenfelt is in charge of cuisine and comes with some impressive credentials, including four years at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek and 10 years as Culinary School Manager at Central Market. The menu includes something for just about anyone from Tuna Sashimi and Banana Leaf Snapper to Naan Pizzas and Guinness Braised Short Ribs. They also offer delicious sides, salads, sandwiches and sweets as well. I highly recommend the Grilled Flank Steak, it comes with “Dean’s Green Sauce,” a fresh and spicy chimichurri with a side of Roasted Veggies or Fingerling Potatoes and a bottle of the Ravenswood Napa Red Zinfandel.
You can stop by and grab a great meal to go any time, but the best part is THEY DELIVER BOOZE! Yep, that’s right, I said they deliver booze. As long as you’re over age 21 (be prepared to show ID) and you’re within a two mile radius (see website for delivery area). Seriously, just imagine Deep Eddy Vodka, Macallan 12 Year Old Scotch or pretty much anything else your heart might desire to accompany your delicious meal can be delivered straight to your door. They also have a nice selection of wines, domestic and imported beers and are available for catered events.
