Ham & Pineapple Hawaiian Kabobs

Blog· Food and Drinks

If you’re like me, you get stuck in the same rut of cooking the same meals over and over. I usually cook the same meals for a few reasons, it’s an easy meal that I can cook without looking at any recipes or it’s fast. Spending all night cooking a meal isn’t what I want to do so I usually keep things simple.
One recipe we cook often is kabobs. Nothing is much easier than seasoning meat, cutting up veggies and throwing them on a skewer. I stopped making them so much because I got tired of my kabobs not having a lot of flavor. I recently came across a recipe that I couldn’t help but share with you all. It’s so simple but has tons of flavor!

Introducing Ham & Pineapple Hawaiian Kabobs

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 lb. Ham Steak, Thick Cut
  • 2 Bell Peppers, Multi Colored
  • 1 c. Pineapple Chunks
  • 1 Medium Onion
Marinade
  • 1-1/2 c. Lemon Juice
  • 2 T. Olive Oil
  • 1 T. Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 T. Dried Minced Onions
  • 2 t. Salt
  • 2 t. Black Pepper
  • 1 t. Onion Powder
  • 1 t. Garlic Powder
  • 2 t. Tabasco Sauce (if desired)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Soak 8 bamboo kebab skewers in a 9×13″ dish of water. Dice ham, peppers, onion, and pineapple into 1″ pieces – you will need approximately 30 pieces of each items. Assemble kebabs alternating pieces of ham, onion, pepper, and pineapple on each, using approximately three pieces of each per skewer. Place assembled kebabs in a 9×13″ baking dish or container of similar size.
Recipe - Ham and Pineapple Kebabs
Combine all of marinade ingredients. Pour marinade over kebab skewers and cover. Place in refrigerator and let marinade for one to two hours. Grill until ham is cooked or until internal temperature is 165 degrees using a meat thermometer.

Thick cuts of ham steaks work best, and you can also use pork roast or some other form of pork. I used thick cut raw ham steaks purchased from a local butcher, so they may look a bit different from a store bought ham steak.
