Blase Family Farm Pumpkin Patch

Blog

Nestled in the picturesque town of Rockwall, Texas, the Blase Family Farm is a hidden gem that embodies the charm of rural life. This family-owned and operated farm has been a beloved part of the community and one of my family’s favorite traditions. Each year Blase Family Farm hosts one of the best Pumpkin Patches in the Dallas area.

Blase Family Farms opens up reservations for their pumpkin patch in the middle of September each year and I always make sure I am one of the first people to register. The pumpkin patch is one of my boy’s favorite family outings each year. I love Blase for many reasons, it’s not just a pumpkin patch. They offer tons of activities for kids, it’s truly a fun experience that lets kids be kids.

Upon entering, we always take an immediate left straight to the animal petting zoo. This year we were given a small cup of food to feed the sheep. No matter how many times the kids see animals, it’s always an exhilarating experience. I love watching their faces light up and their spirits jump to an all time high when they get to do these fun types of events. The Blase Family Farm Petting Zoo consists of llamas, sheep, pot belly pigs, and donkeys. All of these animals are behind fences but they’re easy to pet and the perfect size for all ages of kids.

After the petting zoo, the boys sprint straight to the Hay Maze. This is my oldest’s favorite part of Blase Family Farm. This Hay Maze is the perfect size where the kids can play freely without having to worry that they will run far away. Instead of enjoying the actual maze, my son likes to jump from one hay bale to the next. It’s a great place for the kids to run and burn all the energy. We let them play there as long as possible!

After the kids have burned a lot of their energy, I try to get them to take as many pictures as possible. Blase Family Farms has the cutest wood signs located throughout their property for pictures. I love that we are able to come back year and year again to take the same photos. It’s always fun to compare how big the kids have grown after looking back to the previous year’s pictures.

The kids don’t always participate but we get what we can.

The Ultimate List of Dallas Pumpkin Patches

After a few pictures, we take a stroll through the small hiking trail set up. This trail is very short and has story boards along it all about Spookley the Pumpkin. It has a great storyline and teaches kids to never judge a book by it’s cover. My oldest loved that he was able to read each story board this year!

Next on our adventure is my middle child’s favorite activity – the hay ride! The Blase Family Farm hayride lasts about 10 minutes long. You listen to a recorded story about the farm and how it came to existence. During the ride, you get to see lots of large hay bales decorated as pumpkins. Towards the end, you pass  by the blueberry fields and get a quick history all about their blueberry patch (which is so fun to visit during season).

Once we finish the hayride, I get the boys to take a few more pictures on our way to the pumpkin patch! There are so many great places for photo opps, it’s hard not to stop at them all.

The actual Pumpkin Patch is lined perfectly with small pumpkins. Each person is allowed to take one with paid entry. The kids absolutely love going through each row of pumpkins and choosing their very favorite pumpkin.

After a long morning of playing hard at the pumpkin patch, the boys are usually worn out. Blase Farm offers homemade popsicles, honey, and fudge that you do not want to miss out on! We always try to snag the honey before it’s sold out for the season.

Things to Know Before Visiting Blase Family Farms Pumpkin Patch

I love dressing the kids in cute clothes for the pumpkin patch since I know we will be taking tons of pictures. Keep in mind that there are lots of physical activities for the kids such as the petting zoo and hay maze so I’d allow comfortable clothes for the kids. They can still be cute but something they can move in. Also, wear closed toed shoes for the kids.

Make a reservation before going. Head to their website to sign up for a time slot to the pumpkin patch. This allows the owners to know how many people are coming, manage the flow of the farm and make sure it’s not over crowded.

Bring extra cash to spend on homemade goodies. Blase does take credit card but as a small family farm, every expense adds up such as credit card fees. We love to purchase their honey, popsicles and fudge during our visit. Not only is it supporting local but it’s some of the best we’ve had!

Respect the farm! Don’t forget this is a Family’s property and while you are visiting, don’t leave trash or any belongings behind. Take care of the property and treat it as your own.

Blase Family Farms Pumpkin Patch is located at 1232 E. Fork Drive, Rockwall, TX 75087. For more information, visit https://blasefamilyfarm.com/.
