A few years ago, Jersey Boys was playing at the AT&T Performing Arts Center. Although I knew who they were and knew a couple songs, I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy the musical or not since it was “before my time.” I was worried that I would have no interest and wouldn’t be able to follow along. I love musicals, but only when I know the songs. My husband and I decided to attend regardless and we were completely floored.
Don’t know much about the Jersey Boys? Let me fill you in.
Jersey Boys is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi. This is the story of how a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sound and sold 175 million records worldwide – all before they were thirty years old. The musical features such Four Seasons’ hits as “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Sherry,” “Walk Like A Man,” “Oh, What A Night” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
I quickly learned after attending the musical that I know most of the Jersey Boys songs and they are my favorite classics. Since we loved watching the last Jersey Boys musical in Dallas, we got tickets to see them again! The Jersey Boys will only be making 16 appearances so if you’re thinking about going, grab your tickets fast. The total running time is 2 hours and 35 minutes and suggested for kids 12 and up due to smoke, gun shots, strobe lights, profane “authentic Jersey language.”
JERSEY BOYS is Broadway’s biggest success story! It has won four 2006 Tony Awards® including Best Musical; the 2006 Grammy® Award for Best Musical Show Album; the 2009 Olivier Award for Best New Musical and the 2010 Helpmann Award for Best Musical (Australia), along with many other awards worldwide. The awards keep coming and I’m not surprised at all. The show is amazing and a must see. Tickets to the show would make a great holiday present! Grab your seats before they’re all gone!
