Boots & Blessings to Benefit Ally’s Wish

Blog· Events

The older I get, the more I realize how precious life is and how things can change within seconds. Friends start getting bad news from the doctor, our elders start to grow old and things just start happening that you never imagined would.

What would you do if you received a diagnosis that you only had a few more months to live? I would be in complete shock and wouldn’t know what to do. Thankfully, there are charities to help mothers that are in these types of situations. Ally’s Wish is a Flower Mound-based charity that grants wishes to young mothers battling terminal illnesses so they may create lasting memories with their children and loved ones. They have sent families to Disney World, to Hawaii to swim with dolphins, a visit to the Grand Canyon and, most recently, they created a winter wonderland for a Mom who just wanted one more Christmas with her teens.

In 2014, four friends founded Ally’s Wish in honor of their dear friend, Allyson Hendrickson whose wish was the first to be granted prior to losing her battle with ovarian cancer in 2014. Hendrickson’s blog, 3 Little Cowboys began as a collection of letters and stories to her three young sons, but it quickly gained a national following spanning seven years. With her friends by her side, she unwrapped her published book, Three Little Cowboys. Today a portion of the
sales from Hendrickson’s book benefits Ally’s Wish.

Charities like Ally’s Wish make the unthinkable possible for those who are dying. I can’t begin to imagine the way I’d feel if I got the dreaded news that I wouldn’t be around much longer but having Ally’s Wish makes things much easier for the whole family. Ally’s Wish is funded by donations, volunteers and two large events held each year. The 4th Annual Boots & Blessings Gala benefiting Ally’s Wish takes place on April 21st at Austin Ranch at Hilton DFW Lakes.  This is a great way to get involved and help the charity to continue doing good in the community.

Join Ally’s Wish for a boot scootin’ great cause! The gala evening will include a cocktail hour, a seated dinner buffet, and live Country-Western entertainment from The Breckenridge Band. Amy Vanderoef will be the evening’s emcee. Funds raised from this event will benefit Ally’s Wish. Individual tickets are $150 and tables of 10 are available for $1,500. Corporate and individual sponsorship levels begin at $2,500.
