Everything You Need to Know About the DFW Auto Show

Blog· Events· Tech

One of my favorite events to attend each year is the DFW Auto Show. It’s the perfect time to explore all of the new cars coming to market and get your hands on them to test drive. I love car shopping and learning about all the new vehicles and their features but nothing beats actually getting in the car and taking it for a spin. DFW Auto ShowAuto shows are always fun but they can be a bit overwhelming, especially if you have never been to one before. The key to getting the most out of the show is being prepared. I’ve put together a small list of how to get the most of out the DFW Auto Show.

Get directions to the show

If you haven’t been to the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center, it can be confusing. I’ve been hundreds of times and sometimes I still find myself driving around the buildings trying to figure out where I am suppose to be going or where in the world to park.

This year, the DFW Auto Show has partnered with a company to provide guaranteed parking which makes me SO happy. I hate dealing with parking so knowing that I’ll a reserved spot when I get there is the best. You can reserve your parking spot here. DFW AUto ShowPlan the best time to go

The reason I like to know all hours of the show is it helps me to figure out when it’s going to be the busiest. I like to go during slower hours so I can get more out of the show without feeling like I’m competing for a spot to see the cars.

  • Wednesday: 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Thursday: 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Friday: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

 Purchase Tickets

Don’t wait til the last minute to buy your tickets. You are able to buy the tickets before the show and the best part is your ticket is good for any day the show is open. (Presale tickets)

  • $12 for adults
  • $5 for senior citizens 65 and older
  • $5 for children 6 to 12 years old; children 5 and under admitted free

Let’s talk cars –

Obviously, many of us have our favorite car brands and cars that we can not wait to see at the show. When I first started attending, I would focus on those car brands that I love and not give much attention to the car brands that I wasn’t a huge fan of. Don’t be like me. That was such a mistake, I missed on so many amazing announcements and opportunities to see what other brands were up to.

I suggest checking out your favorite brands first but don’t skip over other companies. Keep an open mind, you will be very surprised at how far all brands have progressed and what they are currently working on. There will be almost 40 car companies at the show, find the full list here.

Get behind the wheel and test drive cars

There are thirteen car companies participating in the Ride and Drive exhibit. Ride and Drive events are my favorite because you are able to get behind the wheel and see what the car is all about.  Hours for the outdoor Ride & Drive event are: 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 18 & 19 and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 20.

Kia – They will have their full line of models available for test drives (Learn more about the 2017 Kia Sportage). Kia is known for giving you more for your money. Spend less money but still get all the value! If you haven’t been in a Kia in the last year, don’t miss their Ride and Drive.

Mazda – Mazda will be showing the newly updated Mazda CX-9. 2016 is turning out to be the year of the family car, and Mazda is taking that to heart; after years of focusing on smaller sedans and the Miata roadster, we can’t wait to see what is in store for the popular three row SUV CX-9.

Toyota – In addition to participating in the public ride & drive, Toyota’s smaller pickup, the 2016 Toyota Tacoma, will be making its Texas debut.

I hope you all can make it. If you’ll be at the show on Wednesday, let me know so I can say HI!
