When I was first invited to attend a fight, I was leery. I had never attended a fight and really had no desire to watch grown men throw punches at each other. After thinking it over, I thought “why the hell not ?” I arrived to the Hurst Convention Center to a PACKED room for the Bud Light Pro Fight Series. All seats were already sold out and there was only standing room available. Obviously, I made the right decision to watch the fight.
We were ushered by a friend to our seats, that were only about 15 feet from the rink. We might have had some of the best seats in the house (Thanks, SFPR!). I quickly learned why so many people were here to watch the fight, because it was awesome. Each fighter had different techniques and it was interesting to watch how they used their talents to their advantage to try and defeat their opponent. Swing after swing, you could head the crowd ooohhh and ahhh. The room came alive.
The main attraction was the big fight between Hector “El Diamante” Vasquez and Norman Allen. Vasquez dominated every round and had the room on their feet chanting, “Vasquez, Vasquez.” He is a local boy (from Ft. Worth) so the crowd backed his every move. With every punch that Allen threw, Vasquez was more and more energized. If there was going to be any knock outs, I knew it would be during this fight.
Unfortunately, I was wrong. I didn’t get to see any knock outs like I had hoped but I can always go back to the next fight on April 19th. The 2013 Bud Light Pro Fight Series SECOND fight will be held on April 19th 2013 at the Hurst Conference Center. Doors open at 5:30pm with the first fight beginning at 7:00pm.
