A Glimpse Inside Clark Food and Wine Co

Blog· Food and Drinks

Lower Greenville was a place that I would go to in my early 20’s to grab drink and hang out with friends. There were lots of great bars to choose from, a few great dining restaurants and always a good time. As years progressed, it turned into a place that hosted lots of run down buildings, empty lease spaces and was unwelcoming.

Times have changed once again, Lower Greenville has turned back into a hot post. It was so much to offer from bars, grocers, stores and some of the best restaurants that Dallas has to offer. I had heard lots of great buzz about the recently opened Clark Food and Wine Co, so I headed there on a weekend night to see what they were all about and if all the great reviews were true.

My husband and I arrived around 7pm and restaurant was packed full. We had reservations so we were able to walk right in and get a table. The space was small, but cozy. It was a packed house so it seemed cramped in a few places but nothing that made me feel uncomfortable.  I enjoyed being able to drink filtered water by Vivreau all night and my husband loved that there were a Vivreau sparkling option.

We were starving when we got there  so we had to try their brisket meatball that had a delicious balsamic glaze then topped with shredded blue cheese.  I’m fairly certain they didn’t last on our plate but for a few seconds because we ate them so fast. The brisket was so tender inside but the outside of the meatball was almost crunchy, which was the perfect combination.
IMG_1377When originally researching Clark Food and Wine Co, I saw a picture of their gulf crab roll that hadn’t left my mind so I made sure to order one to see if it was as good as it looked.  The answer was yes, it was delicious. The soft butter roll was stuffed generously with Gulf Crab that was very fresh (which is what makes all the difference). The crab was mixed with lemon mayo, chives and a cajun spice.  It was one of those dishes that you want to just try a bite but you end up eating the whole thing because it’s so good!

Our waitress was amazing and I can’t say that too often. She explained everything to us, told us her favorites, what other peoples favorites were and gave suggestions all while not being too overboard. She mentioned the BTC flatbread (smoked bacon, roasted tomatoes, white cheddar, tomatillo sauce, cilantro, avacado, jalapeno and lemon mayo) was one of the most popular items. Although it sounded amazing, we decided to order 1/2 lb of brisket and char.

Natural Brisket at Clark Food and Wine Co If you’re not familiar with Artic Char it is in the salmon family. It has a salmon taste with the texture of trout. It was the best Char. It was cooked to perfection and was one of our favorite parts of our meal.

Artic Char - Clark Food and Wine Co You can’t have a meal without a couple great sides. We were told that the mashed potatoes were to die for and that the asparagus was served with a poached egg so we couldn’t turn down either of those.

Mashed Potatoes at Clark Food and Wine Co The mashed potatoes were divine. They were very thick had just the perfect amount of cheese, chives and bacon.

Asparagus at Clark Food and Wine Co The asparagus was an unexpected surprise. The poached egg on top was the perfect touch to this side.

Even though we were stuffed and thought we could eat no more, we had to try the desserts. Our waitress told us that their toffee pudding was one of their best desserts but to be honest, it would have been the last thing I ordered if she didn’t suggest it.  We ordered that and a root beer float (just to be safe).

Toffee Pudding Dessert at Clark Food and Wine Co Hand down, it was one of the best desserts that I have ever had. The toffee took over the flavor of the pudding cake and paired perfectly with the pecans.

We ended the night with a root beer float made with St Arnold’s root beer. You can’t go wrong with a root beer float. Tables sitting next to us were all intrigued with it and asked multiple times what we were eating. It was the perfect way to end the night. Root Beer Float at Clark Food and Wine Co Clark Food and Wine Co definitely exceeded my expectations. It would be a great place for a date, to eat with a group of friends or just to grab a glass of wine a the bar.

Things to know before going to Clark Food and Wine Co:

  • Parking isn’t always the greatest in Lower Greenville, but valet is offered for $5
  • Most of their food is ordered to share. Your best bet is to order lots of different items and let you know table try everything.
  • They have 4 wines on tap and 4 beers on tap.
  • If you can’t make it in for lunch or dinner, they have started serving brunch on the weekends

Clark Food and Wine Co is definitely a spot that you don’t want to miss. Their fresh food, communal style menu and great atmosphere make it a great place to dine.

Clarke Food and Wine Co is located at 1920 Greenville Avenue, Dallas TX 75206.
