Another Successful Year for Big Texas Beer Fest

Blog· Entertainment· Reviews

Crowds lined up at each booth and waited patiently to try hundreds of different beers. This year was just as busy as last, filling the Automotive Building at Fair Park. An estimated 5,000 beer lovers united during the Big Texas Beer Fest. This is only the second year for the fest and it’s already made huge waves in the North Texas Beer Scene.

This year, the Beer Fest offered a little more of everything – more beer, more food. The Building never felt too crowded and the lines weren’t too long to wait in. There were definitely some lines that were longer than others but who cares when you have a sample cup full of beer to drink while you wait?

Big Texas Beer FestIf you’re unfamiliar with how the Big Texas Beer Fest works, here is a run down. Upon entering the building you are given a sample cup that has a mark for your 2 oz sample and a sample card. The sample card has 12 Texas’ that each vendor will mark off upon receiving your sample. It’s simple walk up to a beer vendor and hand them your card. They will stamp or sign one of the Texas’. Tell them what type of beer you want to try and BAM, you’re done. Move on to the next vendor until you have filled your card up with stamps and signatures. If you fill up your card and you still want to drink, No problem. You are able to purchase another sample card for only $2. I unfortunately lost my card half way through, so some lucky buck got about 6 extra tastings courtesy of Dallas Socials.

Food trucks and live music kept the crowd entertained out side. Everybody seemed to be having a good time. People were dancing through the court yard with grins from ear to ear in the perfect weather.  It was pure delight. One of the highlights of the day was when a few people would start yelling then the whole entire building would catch on. All you would hear is people yelling, it would only last for a few seconds. Everybody would lift their drink and toast while giving a big shout. I remember this happening last year, and it completely confused me but the more it happened, the more hilarious it was. Maybe it was just the drinks, but regardless everybody was enjoying themselves which proves to be a successful event.
