Why Every House Needs a Ring Video Doorbell

Blog· Tech

Ever since the Ring Video Doorbell came out, I knew I wanted one. Both my husband and I work from home so we are interrupted daily with people knocking at our door. Sometimes it’s the postman delivering a package, our neighbor needing his ball that he kicked over our fence, or our friends selling something to raise money for their school – whatever the reason is, I like to know before answering the door. I didn’t want to neglect the people coming to my house but at the same time, I needed to get work done without constantly trying to look our my window figuring out who is at my door.

  • One reason it took us so long to purchase a Ring Video Doorbell was because installing a new doorbell sounded tedious. We didn’t want to have to hire someone to come do it for us. We wanted it done correctly so were weary about installing it ourselves. After a bit of research, I learned that it could be hard wired or battery powered. I don’t trust most packages when it says “easy installation” but we gave it a try. Within 30 minutes, my husband had the Ring Video Doorbell up and running without any issues. We didn’t run into any issues, it truly was an easy install.

Another issue that kept us from buying the Ring Video Doorbell in the beginning was because our doorbell is actually on a side wall and does not face directly forward. I just assumed the video wouldn’t work because it would be facing another wall. Once we installed the camera, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the Ring works great where my doorbell is located. The Ring has a 1080HD wide angle camera so I’m able to see my front door, my sidewalk and my street. I can actually see all the way into the street and passed my mail box!

The two reasons we didn’t think the Ring Video Doorbell would work ended up being no problem at all. I’ve loved being able to check out front door from the comfort of my bedroom or even the mall. Want to learn more? Here are some questions I’m frequently asked about the Ring.

Who is the Ring Video Doorbell for? Anybody with a doorbell. From the first day we installed it, I instantly felt safer and more comfortable in my house. I’m that type of person who will hide when someone rings the doorbell.  At one time we had a camera at my front door but by the time I opened the app and the camera loaded, I couldn’t see who was at the door. If I’m going to be honest, it’s usually just my postman but you can never be too sure – until now.

How Does it Work? The Ring Video Doorbell notifies me when someone is at my door, they don’t even have to ring the door bell for me to receive a notification. I get a push notification on my phone and I can instantly watch what is going on at my front door step in seconds. When someone rings the doorbell, I get a notification and I’m able to ‘answer the door’ through my phone via video chat. I can clearly see the visitor through a 1080HD video and speak to them from anywhere. They do not have access to see me back so I can be across the country and they would have no idea if I’m actually home or not.

Do you have to use your phone app to see the videos?  No! You can watch and monitor your Ring Doorbell with your phone, tablet or computer. All you need is a registered account and you can log in anywhere to see what is going on at your front door.

My husband owns a real estate brokerage and at every closing he buys his clients a gift. He fell in love with the Ring Doorbell and has been giving one to all his buyers to install at their new home. It’s the perfect gift for any household and we get rave reviews from each person we gift it to. It’s a great universal gift for any homeowner. I’m looking forward to seeing what other tech items may be on Best Buy’s Top Tech List so I can keep growing my inventory of amazing tech products for my home. What items do you think will be on the list this year?

I know this year has dragged on and on for many pe I know this year has dragged on and on for many people but it has flown by to me. I'm 100% sure it has something to do with welcoming Myles into this world during the height of a pandemic and keeping a toddler alive at the same time. I can't wait for Christmas morning to make memories with my little family (even though Christmas shopping isn't complete and I haven't even thought about wrapping presents). It will all fall in to place, it always does. We didn't attend our favorite Christmas events this year or get pictures with Santa so this random Santa picture will do and I'm 100% happy with it. If this year has taught you anything, let it be finding the joy in the little things ❤
The holidays are quickly approaching! 🎄 Althoug The holidays are quickly approaching! 🎄 Although things might be a bit different this season, we're still enjoying some of our favorite foods and traditions. This year we're incorporating ordering family meal kits from @chuysrestaurant for not only my family but extended family that we might not be able to hang with this holiday. It's a simple way to spread the joy with loved ones, eat delicious food and not forget the reason for the season. #ad #nachoaverageholiday
Family pictures are always so much fun.... this ye Family pictures are always so much fun.... this year we got to attempt it twice thanks to sweet Bryce. Thankfully the second time around he cooperated. As painful as they may be, I'm so glad we get these done every year. I love looking back at them and see how much we've all changed and how much the kids have grown!
Can y'all believe the end of the year is here? We Can y'all believe the end of the year is here? We got our family pictures back and they look great other than the fact that Bryce decided not to participate. We got one shot with my entire family and Bryce is off to the side playing in poison ivy. 🤦‍♀️
