Do you have a go-to drink? You know the drink that you automatically yell at the bartender when he asks what you want? Mine is Malibu. I don’t even care what you mix with it because it goes with everything. I don’t go to bars nearly as often as I use to but you better believe that I keep a bottle of Malibu at my house for those moments when I just need a drink.
Summertime is the perfect time to have friends over to soak in the sun and relax. I have a pool in my backyard which means our house is a revolving door for friends and family to go swimming to cool off from all the heat. Since I never know when to expect guests, I like to have my refrigerator (and bar) fully stocked with drinks and goodness for my visitors.
I came up with (what I think is) the greatest idea ever. What kid doesn’t love a shirley temple drink? I know that I love them and anytime I’m with my nieces and nephews they get so excited when they’re allowed to order one in restaurants. So I figured, why not have shirley temples available all the time at the house. Not to mention, I have to keep the title of “most awesome aunt ever” before the kids grow up and don’t care to hang out with me anymore. Since I have the kids taken care of, I needed something for the adults so the most simple thing I could come up with is why not add Malibu to the shirley temple? The kids and adults can drink almost the same drink and everybody is happy, right? RIGHT.
Not only does everybody love shirley temples, they’re easy to make with very few ingredients. All you need is 7-Up, Malibu and some grenadine and you’re good to go! The great thing about this recipe is that you can make one cup or a whole batch for others to enjoy.
Shirley Temple for Adults
Ingredients
- 2 liter of 7-Up
- Grenadine
- Handle of Malibu
Directions
For each glass of 7-Up that you fill up, you will add one shot of Malibu and a splash of grenadine. If you’re like me, I like to add 1.5 shots and a little bit more grenadine to give it extra flavor. It’s as simple as 1-2-3!
