Use Public Transportation to Fair Park

Parking at the State Fair costs $15 and sometimes even more if you end up parking on somebody’s property – which I don’t trust.  Don’t waste your money on parking, just think of all the food you can buy with that money! Here a few options to get to the State Fair of Texas using public transportation

  • Ride the Dart : State Fair visitors can ride the DART Rail Green Line to two stations – Fair Park Station, located on Parry Avenue at the entrance to the fairgrounds, and MLK, Jr. Station, located south of R.B. Cullum Blvd. and convenient to the MLK fairground entrance (Gate 6.) DART offers four great contactless options that make buying your pass fast, safe, and convenient:
    • GoPass® app: Download the latest version of the app for free from the App Store or Google Play. Just be sure to activate your DART pass before you board.
    • GoPass® Tap: Available at 7-Eleven and hundreds of participating retailers, GoPass Tap is the reloadable transit card that automatically gives you the best fare every time you ride. Simply tap your card to a reader on a DART Rail platform or bus prior to boarding, and your fare is deducted automatically.
    • Credit or debit card: Buy your DART pass with any contactless credit or debit card. Just tap your contactless card to a reader on a DART Rail platform or bus prior to boarding — and you’re on your way to all the fun of the fair!
    • Mobile device: Using your preferred mobile payment app — such as Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay — simply tap your mobile device to a reader on a DART Rail platform or bus to buy your pass.
  • Trinity Railway Express: State Fair visitors can ride the Trinity Railway Express from any of ten stations in Tarrant County or Dallas County to meet up with the DART Rail Green Line in Dallas.
  • Denton County A Train: Traveling from Denton County? Take the A-train from one of five stations and transfer to DART’s Green Line at Trinity Mills.
  • Uber: The Uber pick-up/drop-off area is conveniently located at the intersection of Pacific and Gurley, just outside Gate 1. When you’re ready to head home, exit the grounds before you request your ride. Head north towards Haskell to get to the designated Uber pickup area and meet your driver.

For “Coca Cola Thursdays: Bring an empty 20 oz. bottle of a Coca-Cola product” would Minute Maid lemonade and or Dasani water be accepted, considering that they are products of Coca-Cola ?
    Please and thank you!

As long as it’s a Coca Cola product, it will work!

It’s $50 for a scooter and $20 for a wheelchair. You can find more info about them here: http://www.scooterbugmobilityrentals.com/reserve.cfm?vid=130&CFID=236764&CFTOKEN=ed79dd3fd1d751a6-8532ECC8-9549-9A93-8650C9A6FB617A64

The cost of food greatly varies depending on what you order. Plan on bringing a friend or two and split the cost for food so you can try many items. The average ride is 10 to 12 coupons and coupons are 50 cents each.

I just looked on the big tex website and it says that you have to bring 4 cans of food TO the North Texas Food Bank and they will give you a coupon to bring to the fair for $4 admission. You can’t just bring the canned goods to the fair for the Food Bank. http://bigtex.com/discounts/

That’s incorrect – This is what it says “Bring 4 cans of food for donation to State Fair gates any Wednesday of the Fair and receive a coupon for a $4 admission ticket. Enjoy the Fair for just $4 and help stock the North Texas Food Bank.”

Oh yay! I read it wrong. I’m glad you corrected me because the food bank is way out of the way from where I’m coming. I would have wasted a bunch of time. Thanks

I went on a weekday morning to the state fair (I can’t remember which day) and all the rides were half off. It was about 5 years ago and I’m trying to go this year as well. Do you happen to know anything about this? Is there a specific time range for tickets to be half off because it’s in the daytime? Matinee maybe?

Do you have any more details on DART? I have looked on their website but I’m still confused. Where do I park my car (and how much is that) in order to ride the DART? How do I know which DART line to take? Does it go to and from the fair all day or are there only select times? I’d really like to try it this year but for some reason just can’t figure it out lol!

Hey Valerie! A lot is going to depend on where you are coming from. There is a link that you can put in your address and the State Fair Address and it will give you details on how to get there – https://www.dart.org/riding/traveltoolsandapps.asp

The DART will drop you off at the entrance to the fair and is worth it.If you need more info, feel free to email me Betsy@thedallassocials.com
