Tips For Keeping Your Skin Healthy All Year Long

Blog· Entertainment

This time of year is a bit crazy with the holidays, events and family in town. It’s hard to keep up with everything and I feel like I’m constantly on the go! There is one thing that I am very adamant about and that’s hygiene. I’m a stickler about showering once a day and keep a very strict regimen when it comes to washing my face and brushing my teeth (as we all should).

I wanted to share my best kept beauty secret that helps me always look (and feel) my best when I’m on the go. Dickinson’s  Witch Hazel has been my saving grace, it’s an all-natural Ame
rican Beauty Favorite since 1866! You know it’s amazing if it’s been around for such a long time.Dickinson's Witch Hazel

I use Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel to remove excess dirt, oil and makeup throughout the day. I have a pack I keep at home and on the go towelettes that I keep handy in my purse for when I’m out and about.  Over the years there are a few things that I do to ensure that I keep my skin as healthy as possible. Tips for Keeping Your Skin Healthy All Year LongTips for keeping your skin healthy all year long

Check the dryness of your skin by scratching a small area on your arm or leg with your fingernail. If it leaves a white mark, your skin is indeed dry and needs both moisture and exfoliation.

Use Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Cleansing Cloths regularly. It uses botanical extracts of witch hazel and aloe cleanse and are great for all types of skin. The cloths come in a ready to use vanity pack that fits perfect in my bathroom drawer for easy access. I love that the cloths leave my face feeling fresh without leaving any sticky residue.

Instead of rubbing your eyes, apply pressure. If your eyes itch, grab a warm towel and cover them gently. Facial skin is very delicate so treat it that way.

Avoid Smoking, tanning salons and sunbathing. All three will age your skin prematurely.

Check monthly for new spots or moles that might have come up within the past few weeks. If any new moles or spots pop up, watch it and go see a doctor.

Keep your hands off of your face. I never realized how often I touched my face but it’s not good for you! Think of all the things you touch during the day. When you touch your face, you are putting all of those germs and dirt back on your precious skin.

If you don’t have any already, grab a pack of Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel on the go clean towelettes. They are the perfect size for your purse. I use mine throughout the day, after the gym or anytime my face starts to feel dirty. It doesn’t over dry your skin and it’s formulated with 100% natural with hazel so it works great with all skin types.

I moisturize A LOT. In the summer, I am at the beach everyday and in the winter, the dry air is killer on my skin.

We use Witch Hazel in our home too, it’s great for my teenage boys to wash their faces with after school 🙂 We also make sure to use lotion to keep our skin from drying out in the winter months.

I had a dermotologist once tell me she’d rather I lay on a beach naked at the equator at high noon without sunscreen than tan in a tanning bed! I’ll opt out of both but it’s true many factors affect your skin and often years afterwards.

I am noticing as the seasons change, my skin is getting more dry. Time to increase my moisturizing and water intake.
