The dalpass 2015 is the new all-inclusive ticket for this year’s fair that includes entry to a selection of the best events during ‘Dallas Art Week’, with proceeds benefitting the Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Contemporary, Nasher Sculpture Center, Goss-Michael Foundation and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation.
The seventh annual Dallas Art Fair will take place at Fashion Industry Gallery (f.i.g.) from April 9th – 12th. In addition to general entry, dalpass holders will have insider access to the Dallas Art Fair VIP Preview Luncheon and Dallas Art Fair Preview Gala, which offers patrons and top collectors the opportunity to preview and purchase exhibited works prior to the public opening.
The ticket additionally grants entrance to a selection of exclusive events and exhibition openings throughout the week, including Dallas Contemporary Members Opening Celebration, The Power Station Exhibition Opening, The Goss-Michael Foundation Breakfast with Michael Craig-Martin, Private Tours of Nasher Collection, MTV RE:DEFINE Gala Dinner and Art Auction, Dallas Museum of Art’s Annual Art Ball 50 After Party, and more.

The dalpass 2015 is available to purchase for $1,500. The 2015 dalpass supports the Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Contemporary, Nasher Sculpture Center, Goss-Michael Foundation and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation. $1,000 of the $1,500 dalpass will be allocated to MTV RE:Define Gala Dinner and Art Auction, $250 will be allocated to the Art Ball 50 After Party and $250 will be allocated to the Dallas Art Fair Preview Gala. Wednesday, April 8th
World Premier of Ei Arakawa Performance (6 PM – 7 PM)

The DMA will premiere a newly commissioned work by New York-based performance artist Ei Arakawa inspired by the exhibition Between Action and the Unknown: The Art of Kazuo Shiraga and Sadamasa Motonaga, on view February 8 – July 19, 2015. Arakawa’s work takes shape as choreographed gatherings, along the lines of Happenings, in which the artist interacts with and reinterprets particular art objects or art historical moments. Often working with other artists, curators, and art historians Arakawa’s performances rely on both an openness to collaboration and audience participation. Arakawa aligns his work with the performative legacies of Japanese experimental art, such as Gutai, Jikken Kobo, and Fluxus, which he explores anew through his interpretive practice.
The Power Station Exhibition Opening (7 PM – 9PM)

For over twenty years, Jos De Gruyter and Harald Thys have created collaborative works, rooted in a folksy, tragicomic sensibility. For their Dallas debut, the duo will exhibit fifty of their haunting Puppen von Pommern sculptures. The Power Station is a not-for-profit initiative dedicated to providing a platform for ambitious contemporary art projects in Dallas, Texas. Geared toward an international audience and most immediately, the community of Dallas, the bold programming serves as a catalyst to provocate public discourse around art and culture.

Enjoy private tours of the renowned Nasher Collection as well as the exhibition Melvin Edwards: Five Decades, a retrospective of the renowned American sculptor. Melvin Edwards’s career spans crucial periods of upheaval and change in American culture and society, and his sculpture provides a critical bridge between modernist techniques and materials and contemporary approaches to the art object. In 1988, New York Times critic Michael Brenson lauded Edwards as “one of the best American sculptors…[and] one of the least known.” Over the past five decades, Edwards has produced a remarkable body of work redefining the modernist tradition of welded sculpture.
MTV RE:DEFINE Gala Dinner and Art Auction (7 PM)

The MTV Staying Alive Foundation, together with The Goss-Michael Foundation and Dallas Contemporary, present the fourth annual RE:DEFINE, a world-premiere art exhibition, auction, and gala featuring world-renowned contemporary artists. Previous years artists included Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas, Julian Schnabel, Tracey Emin, Richard Phillips, Piotr Uklanski, Marc Quinn, Jim Lambie, Ryan Gander, Michelle Grabner and Juergen Teller among others. The evening, co-chaired by sisters Kimberly Schlegel Whitman, Kari Schlegel-Kloewer, and Krystal Schlegel, hosted by Joyce Goss and Kenny Goss and honoring Michael Craig Martin will feature a live auction led by auctioneer Alexander Gilkes of Paddle8. All proceeds will benefit Dallas Contemporary and The MTV Staying Alive Foundation, an international organization dedicated to stopping the spread of HIV among young people.
