There is one thing that we all like to do in Texas and that’s tailgating! Taste of the NFL is the ultimate tailgate experience with food, fun and the Dallas Cowboys. Yes, you read that correctly. Not only is the event now held at the AT&T Stadium but Dallas Cowboys players both past and present make appearances and mingle with those in attendance.
In previous years, Taste of the NFL was held in Grapevine and while I never thought the location was bad, I always wondered why it wasn’t held at the stadium. To my surprise, they changed the location to AT&T Stadium this year and it was a huge success. The weather could not have been better and the party was flawless. There were a few things that I loved about having the tailgate party at the stadium. The main one was space. At the last location, many of the food stations would get crowded and it was difficult to move from place to place. At the stadium, there was tons of space to move around without bumping into anyone.
It’s worth it to be a VIP. What does this mean? It means you get special access into the event. No waiting in long lines and there is a special area just for you. Not only will you always have a place to sit but many of the North Texas Food Bank volunteers were serving the VIP Members in the area! That means no waiting in line to get into the event and no waiting in line for food. Many of the VIP had special access down on the football field too. It’s a real treat and worth paying a few extra bucks for the upgrade.
The food gets better and better every year. This year was no different. I enjoyed tasting the many different samples from local chefs and trying new food. There was a little bit of everything on the menu this year from turtle gumbo to braised short rib. Every single sample was divine. There were lots of tables and seats to enjoy the food so you didn’t feel like you needed to rush from booth to booth to try the food although it’s hard not to since everything tasted so good!
Inside the stadium is where the silent auction took place. There was everything from Dry Bar gift cards to Steve Jobs autograph. There was truly something for everybody there and all bids started at reasonable prices.
If you didn’t already know, the Taste of the NFL benefits North Texas Food Bank. Since its inception in 2005, Taste of the NFL: The Ultimate Cowboys Tailgate Party has raised more than $1.61 million for hungry North Texas children. It’s truly a party with a purpose.
One of my very favorite things about this event is seeing the Dallas Cowboys players mingling with guests at Taste of the NFL. We all know that the Dallas Cowboys are the best team in the NFL on the field and it shows they are just as good off the field. I love seeing them out and about giving back to the community. During the event they are more than happy to take a picture with you or just chat.
If you’re looking for a way to give back to the community, join us next at Taste of the NFL or volunteer your time to North Texas Food Bank! No matter what you do, make sure you are doing something no matter how big or small to give back.
