Restaurant Week DFW: The French Room

Blog· Food and Drinks· Reviews

Restaurant Week is a great time to experience restaurants in the area that you wouldn’t usually go to. This year, I decided to make a reservations at The French Room. I had never been there before so I knew this would a good reason to splurge. I jumped on the reservations as soon as they opened up because all of the better restaurants sell out FAST. Thankfully, I was able to get a reservation without any hassle. I do know that they sold out pretty fast.

The boyfriend and I made reservations after my Blushington appointment, see how well I planned that one out?  Bonus points to me.

The night that we had reservations at The French Room, it poured down rain and of course, we were about 15 minutes late for dinner. I called to make sure they knew we would be there since I knew scheduling was tight trying to fit everyone in for Restaurant Week. They had no problems with us being late, thankfully. Upon arriving, we were seated at a table for two that was lit beautifully with a candle and decorated with a single rose.

Before arriving, I had no idea what would on the menu. Unlike most restaurants that participate in Restaurant Week, The French Room did not have a menu available to look at which worried me a bit because I had no clue what was going to be offered. The great thing about Restaurant Week is having everybody at your table order something different so you can try a little bit of everything.

The first thing we ordered was Texas Corn Soup and Chick Dumpling. It was fantastic. Someone please tell me why I’m never had corn soup before.

The boyfriend ordered the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, which was the biggest crab cake I have seen. Crab is one of my favorite meats ever and I appreciated that the crab tasted fresh and not fishy.

For our main course, I ordered the Filet of Beef Tenderloin. My meat was so tender, I was able to cut it with a fork. The bacon mashed potatoes that came as my side were amazing.

The boyfriend’s main dish was Fresh Atlantic Salmon served with mushrooms.

Dessert might have been our favorite part of the meal. The Tahitian Vanilla and Key Lime Creme Brulee served with Coconut Crisps.

Our second dessert was the Manjari Chocolate Dome served with an  almond nougat cherry gelato.Manjari Chocolate Dome at The French Room #dallas

After dinner we sat and drank (way too much) coffee and admired the scenery. Our meal was very delicious, not sure if it was worth the $150 that it cost for Restaurant Week.  I’ll be back at another time to take a look at the whole menu and try some other foods that weren’t available during Restaurant Week.

What is your favorite restaurant to visit during Restaurant Week?
