This time last year, Dallas was introduced to the Big Texas Beer Fest. This event set the bar high and exceeded the expectations of many. Chad and Nellie Montgomery, a married couple with a strong love for delicious beer, decided after visiting the Great American Beer Festival in Denver that Dallas needed an event that would benefit the community and craft beer world.
The Big Texas Beer Fest will be held in the Automotive Building at Fair Park, and feature more than 100 breweries from around the world, including 20+ from the state of Texas. The success of the 2012 festival, which was named one of the Top 14 craft beer and spirits festivals in the United States by foodrepublic.com, also gained international attention. Montgomery said Chris Bauweraerts, brewer at Brasserie d’Achouffe in Belgium, will be attending this year.
In addition to award-winning beers from all over the world, the festival will also feature 10 local food trucks, samples of artisan cheese from local cheese shop, Scardello, locally roasted coffee from Noble Coyote, locally produced craft soda from Armadillo Ale Works, and other free samples. Local bands The O’s, The Hanna Barbarians and Fish Fry Bingo, the official band of Texas craft beer, are also scheduled to perform.
Tickets for the festival are on sale now at http://www.bigtexasbeerfest.
The festival’s hours are 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with the VIP to begin at 1 p.m. Parking will be available at Fair Park for $10, but Montgomery recommends people use the DART rail. The rail has a stop on the Green Line at Fair Park, dropping attendees just steps away from the venue.
