Every Sunday, I sit down with my pen, meal planner and Pinterest to jot down meals for the week. Once I have my meals and grocery list I head to the store. I have a newborn so I usually take him with me which means I’m rushing through the store throwing stuff in my basket all while praying he keeps calm and let’s me finish shopping for the week. Once we get our grocery shopping done, we head home and I prep my meals for the week. To be completely honest, I usually only prep meals half of the time because I’m either too tired, I have a baby that needs attention, or I have more important chores to be doing. It’s a lot of work but prepping my vegetables and cooking meat for the week is a huge help when it comes to dinner time every night.
My whole Sunday routine usually takes me a good 3 hours from start to finish which is not awesome because I would rather be doing other things on my Sundays. I made a recent discovery that has changed everything – meet Tyson Tastemakers Meal Kits.
Tyson Tastemakers is a meal kit you can buy that has everything you need for a meal already prepped for you. You can purchase a kit at the store in Dallas (try Target, Kroger or HEB) or even have the meal kits mailed to you through Amazon Fresh, Amazon Prime Now or Jet.com. I purchased mine at a local grocer to test it out. The meal kit comes with everything you need for a meal – all of the pre-measured ingredients you need to create one of the delicious meals in your kitchen are included. This means all-natural, pre-marinated meat, fresh vegetables, chef-created sauces, perfectly paired starches and an easy-to-follow recipe card. The only thing you need in your kitchen is oil and salt and pepper, if you prefer.
Someone please tell me where this has been my whole life. Instead of wasting all day and night making crazy meal plans and prepping food Tyson Tastemakers products have done all the work for me.
The first meal kit I tried was the Citrus Rum Glazed Chicken with charred sweet peppers and pineapple salsa. My husband loves chicken and I love anything with rum and salsa so I knew this would be an instant hit at my house.
The directions suggested cooking this meal on a grill, grill pan or a nonstick pan. I cooked mine on a cast iron skillet because I cook everything on my cast iron skillet. The meal may have a better charred flavor coming from a grill but that isn’t happening when I have a baby to watch over.
The Tyson Tastemakers Meal Kit comes with all the ingredients you need plus a recipe card that walks you through each step.
One of my favorite parts of the meal kit is how simple it is. The meal is completely prepped for you, all I had to do was cut open the packages and throw it on the stove.
I pulled out a cutting board to cut the chicken into small pieces and to my surprise it was already done for me. The chicken has been marinated in the citrus rum glaze which gives the chicken tons of flavor. We’re picky what we eat at my house so I love that this chicken has no added hormones and the chickens are raised with no antibiotics.
My meal was completed in a few steps. While the rice was cooking, I cooked the peppers and chicken in my cast iron skillet. Once the chicken and peppers were fully cooked, I combined everything and dinner was done. It was a record to have dinner completed from start to finish in about 20 minutes. We might even call that a miracle!
My husband even mentioned it was “so easy he could make them for dinner.” That means I will be going to the store tonight and buying every single Tyson Tastemakers Meal Kits possible so he can cover dinner duty. I wouldn’t do that to him but I will be grabbing more Tyson Tastemakers Meal Kits so we have them handy. The meal kits change with the seasons so there is always a fresh new culinary adventure to try. I have a Pork Loin with Pork Belly pasta that I will be making later this week, I’ll keep you posted on how it turns out!
