I’m always on the hunt for healthy food when I eat out. Working from home allows me to eat out often with friends and family but after a while, I get tired of eating heavy, unhealthy food. My fiance and I get stuck in the same rut, eating the same food or at the same places often which drives me crazy!
This week we ventured over to Houlihan’s located at Firewheel Mall in Garland for lunch and we were delighted to see a new specials menu complete with craveable lighter fare items. Each item on the menu is less than 590 calories and is prepared with fresh and nutritive ingredients.
Some of the menu items included entrees such as the Lemon & Herb Grilled Chicken (CAL 550) served with tuscan white beans, organic kale-spinach-chard blend, roasted artichokes, tomatoes, herbed broth, Miso Grilled Salmon (CAL 540) miso-marinated atlantic salmon over stir-fried quinoa with steamed edamame, house-pickled cucumber, shaoxing sauce, and Rice Noodle Salad with Ginger-Soy Prime top Sirloin (CAL 590) with napa slaw, basil, mint, snow peas, cilantro, scallions,roasted peanuts and chili-lime dressing.
I opted for the Miso Grilled Salmon since I’ve been on a fish kick this year. Before I ordered, I noticed a timer sitting on my table. The waitress explained to me that Houlihan’s was offering a quick lunch service for those who were on a tight schedule during the day. Once we ordered, the timer was pressed and they guaranteed that my meal would be out within twenty minutes. This allows everyone to be able to eat at Houlihan’s during lunch even if you only have an hour to get in and out of the door. Our meal was delivered in about 15 minutes.
My Miso Grilled Salmon was served on a bed of quinoa and with a side of edamame. It was the perfect meal. I didn’t get too full but I didn’t feel guilty when I ate everything on my plate because I knew that it was all under 550 calories. My fiance opted for something off of the lighter fare menu that couldn’t have been too many calories. He enjoyed the Grilled Atlantic Salmon lunch special that came with honest gold mashers and green beans which also came with a cup of Chicken Tortilla Soup. It made for a large lunch!
