3 Stacks BBQ Takes Away Cafeteria Style Dining, Adds Booths and Tables Instead

Blog· Food and Drinks

I tried 3 Stacks BBQ right about a year ago and loved it. Although, it was located in Frisco, the food was worth the drive. When they first opened, the restaurant was set up like a cafeteria. You would start at the beginning of the line and slowly walk through telling the person behind the counter what you wanted on your plate. Once you got back to your table, you then had a waiter that would get a drink for you. The concept wasn’t bad but it could be perfected. Trace “The Rib Whisperer” Arnold realized the set up wasn’t the best and changed the layout and concept on how you receive your food. I stopped in for a bite to eat and to see what 3 Stacks had done with the place and let me tell you, it’s so much better!

We started with their grilled Ceasar Salad which came with hearts of romaine lettuce seasoned, grilled, and then drizzled with caesar dressing. I loved how it came uncut unlike most other salads.

My favorite appetizer was the fried dill pickles. They are cut daily, hand breaded to order and fried to perfection. Served with house sauce which you don’t even need because the pickles are so dang good.

The Burnt Ends are always a crowd pleaser. You can buy them by the pound or you can order a plate that is 1/2 lb of burnt ends and your choice of two sides.

Of course, we had to eat some ribs while we were at 3 Stacks. You can order then dry or wet. We tried a little bit of both.

Just when we thought that we couldn’t eat anymore, dessert arrived at our table. The first dessert we tried was the Hot Apple Crisp. They cut and bake fresh apples on location and double layer the crust with caramel, don’t forget to add a scoop of ice cream.

The last dessert was my favorite, the triple fudge brownie. It’s served warm in our cast iron skillet and topped with rich and creamy Blue Bell vanilla ice cream and warm hot fudge. This is a great dessert to share with the whole table!

If you get a chance, swing my 3 Stacks in Frisco, it’s located a couple miles north of 121 on Preston Road.  You’ll love the new setup and the food won’t disappoint. Let me know what you think of the new renovations!
