Dallas Engagement Pictures

Blog

After getting engaged in October, I’ve been wanting to get professional pictures of my fiance and I. We have tons of pictures but not tons of pictures of us together. I chose to get pictures taken with Hornbuckle Creative, I love the work that they do and knew it would be a great fit. I didn’t have tons of wants and needs for my pictures BUT I did know that I wanted to capture “Dallas” in them. Both my fiance and I were born and raised in the Dallas metroplex, and we love this great city so why not?  Our first stop was at SMU, it was my one place I knew that we had to take pictures at. Not only did we both go there (no, we didn’t meet there), the campus is absolutely gorgeous. The scenery is beautiful and the buildings are amazing with so much detail.  If you haven’t been to the SMU, I would highly recommend going for a walk around the campus.

Mandy Hornbuckle of Hornbuckle Creative took our Dallas Engagement pictures. After taking a few shots at SMU, she decided that she should get in a tree and take pictures of us from above. She climbed up into the tree and got some amazing shots. I loved how she thought outside of the box and was willing to do anything to get the best shot possible.

Yes, she is taking the picture from the tree about 10 feet above us. I can’t remember the last time that I took professional pictures but she made it easy. I didn’t have to worry about a thing other than looking at the camera when she told me to.  The next location that I really wanted to go to was the Dallas Arboretum. I knew it would be the perfect location with Dallas Blooms in full effect but I failed to realize that they closed at 5pm every single day! So needless to say, we drove all the way over there just to find out that they were closed so we decided to head to Klyde Warren Park instead.

Klyde Warren Park has tons of great places for pictures but my only concern was that there would be a lot of people there but thankfully when we arrived, the park was empty! I also forgot to mention that we were taking pictures in the FREEZING cold. It was probably 40 degrees and windy so we were the only ones out frolicking in the cold (without jackets).

I really wanted to get a picture of us with the Dallas skyline but the weather wasn’t cooperating. All of downtown was covered in fog but Mandy captured this picture of us that I absolutely love.

You can get Bridals, Family, Kids, Babies, Maternity, Seniors, Engagement, or  whatever you would like. If it can be posed and photographed, she can do it for you. View  The  2 hour session includes a digital version of the full-resolution photos. If you want to do a mini real life session instead for 2 hours, you can! In the real life session she will capture your real life. It’s not perfect (even though you may have cleaned up the house a little for it and planned an activity or two), but it’s the stuff that you’ll actually miss when your kids are grown. She will hang out with you for 2 hours, capture your real life and you get the digital version of the full-resolution photos.

I absolutely had a blast taking my pictures and I know a lot of it was because of Mandy. She made the day fun and enjoyable for both Quinn and I. I enjoyed every minute of the day even if it was freezing outside.  Mandy took the initiative on all the photographs that we took and had tons of ideas for us. She gave me tips before our photographs on what to bring and what to wear, which helped me tremendously since I had no clue! Mandy offers the digital version of the full resolution pictures that you took which I LOVE. In my opinion, there are too many photographers that make you purchase prints  from them and you never get the digital files, or you only get a few of the digital files and it drives me crazy. I like that I now have lots of great digital files that I can whatever I want with! Okay, I’ll shut up about Mandy but I highly recommend her. If you want, check out more of her photography.

I’d LOVE a free engagement session! We are getting married in Montana and with the expense of a destination wedding, engagement photos weren’t really an option. This would be awesoome!

I wanna win!!! 🙂 I want to capture my daughter and I ( and 4 of her cousins) , since they’ll only be young once and being a single mom, it would capture the relationship that Z and I have now as well as give her memories. ALSO i love Mandy’s work 😉 BTW, love the picture of the green Dallas building in the background, FAVORITE picture. ( kinda looks like a postcard) Congrats Betsy !!

I’m getting married in May, but my fiance and I didn’t have the chance to do engagement photos. Now, we’re thinking of doing either trash the dress photos after the wedding or just “our new family photos” so we can include our basset hound. Would love to win this!

I know this year has dragged on and on for many pe I know this year has dragged on and on for many people but it has flown by to me. I'm 100% sure it has something to do with welcoming Myles into this world during the height of a pandemic and keeping a toddler alive at the same time. I can't wait for Christmas morning to make memories with my little family (even though Christmas shopping isn't complete and I haven't even thought about wrapping presents). It will all fall in to place, it always does. We didn't attend our favorite Christmas events this year or get pictures with Santa so this random Santa picture will do and I'm 100% happy with it. If this year has taught you anything, let it be finding the joy in the little things ❤
The holidays are quickly approaching! 🎄 Althoug The holidays are quickly approaching! 🎄 Although things might be a bit different this season, we're still enjoying some of our favorite foods and traditions. This year we're incorporating ordering family meal kits from @chuysrestaurant for not only my family but extended family that we might not be able to hang with this holiday. It's a simple way to spread the joy with loved ones, eat delicious food and not forget the reason for the season. #ad #nachoaverageholiday
Family pictures are always so much fun.... this ye Family pictures are always so much fun.... this year we got to attempt it twice thanks to sweet Bryce. Thankfully the second time around he cooperated. As painful as they may be, I'm so glad we get these done every year. I love looking back at them and see how much we've all changed and how much the kids have grown!
Can y'all believe the end of the year is here? We Can y'all believe the end of the year is here? We got our family pictures back and they look great other than the fact that Bryce decided not to participate. We got one shot with my entire family and Bryce is off to the side playing in poison ivy. 🤦‍♀️
