The internet is a wonderful thing and I feel like we are always being shared with new and brilliant ideas. Because of this, I feel like it’s a bit harder to surprise me with new and awesome ideas. No, it’s not that I’m smarter than anyone (although I wish that was the reason), it’s just that I am on the internet so often I feel like I see so many great ideas. Don’t even get me started with Pinterest!
I went to a friend’s house to learn about and all the great ways we could use them. There couldn’t be that many ways, could there?
I will admit that I’m one of those people that usually only use paper towels for cleaning purposes whether that means cleaning the window or wiping down the floors. I learned very quickly that I was doing it wrong. Not only can Viva® Towels be used for cleaning but a variety of other things.
One method to use the Viva® Towels differently is to wet the paper towel and then put it underneath your cutting board. This will help prevent the cutting board from slipping! I tried this switch up and it worked great! The next switch up that I tried was to clean mushrooms with only the paper towel. If you’re like me, you eat mushrooms often and know they are very dirty. The Viva® Towels stretched to scrub all parts of the mushroom and did an amazing job.
After I was completely blown away by all the ways I wasn’t using Viva® towels, I decided to go home and figure out how I could use the towels differently at home. As I was washing my face that night with my expensive face towelettes, it hit me. I knew I could make my own makeup remover towelettes for a fraction of the cost and without all the nasty chemicals that I was putting on my face every night.
I started with my Viva® Towels and torn off approximately 20 pieces and found a mason jar that was not too small for the towels but not so big that it would take up to much room for my bathroom counter.
Next, I folded the paper towels so they would fit nicely into the jar. I made it so my towels would fit nice and snug. Your folding my vary depending on the size of your jar.
I was able to fit about 2 weeks worth of towels into my jar. I placed them one by one into the jar until it was almost full. I left approximately 1 centimeter of space on the top so I could add my liquids. Mix together 1 cup of water, 3 drops of tear free baby wash, 3 Tablespoons coconut oil and 3 drops essential oil (recommended but not required).
Now comes the fun part, pour your ingredients into your jar filled with paper towels slowly. Let the liquid seep into the paper towels. Once you’ve poured a generous amount, take another paper towel that is already folded and push into the jar. The liquid will make the paper towels shrink in size so add as many paper towels as you can. Pour more liquid until the towels stop soaking it in. I had no idea that I would be able to pour so much liquid into the jar. The Viva® Towels soak up tons of liquid which makes them perfect for your makeup remover towelettes! Each towelette will be soaked with all the ingredients you need to get off all of your stubborn makeup. Now the true test is if these towelettes actually take off makeup. I put them to the test and they worked magically. The strength of the towels with how much liquid they absorb worked wonders together.
What I love about this DIY project is that you probably already have all of these products at your home. I highly recommend the Viva® Towels for this project because of their stretchy strength and sponge like absorbency.
I challenge you to a 7-Day Switch Up and try to use your Viva® Towels in a different way than you’re used to, whether it be to scrub your stove or strain your veggies. The possibilities are endless.
What fun and creative ways do you use Viva® Towels?
