DIY Wedding Reception Dessert Tablescape

Blog· Entertainment

Wedding brain is real. Well, in my case, reception brain. It’s all I can think about. I have been on the search for all of the right decorations and food to make sure my reception is a success. I will be catering our main courses in but I want to have an area full of all sorts of cheeses and a large table that is all sweets.  I received my Personalized M&Ms so I thought it would be a good time to put together my sweets table to see what it will look like. I want to make sure it’s perfect.

I plan on using lots of burlap, browns and lots of pink for most of my decorations. I ordered pink, white and gold M&M’s which I think will work perfectly for both my sweets table and as party favors.

I love that I got to personalize my M&M’s! I ordered them to say “Mr & Mrs Segars” and for the others to have hearts. You have the option to put your picture on the actual M&M, which I thought was super cool but I couldn’t find a picture of us that I wanted. I love how the hearts and our names turned out. It gives the treats a more personal touch.

I put the M&M’s on my table for snacking and also bought small glass jars at Hobby Lobby for party favors.

I made the banner for less than $10 with supplies from Hobby Lobby. The burlap triangles were sold in packets of 4 for less than $4 each, then I found pink fabric in the clearance section for less than $1. I printed out letters on Word and traced them onto the  fabric, cut them out and glued them to the burlap. The whole banner only took about 30 minutes. It was a fun, easy project and I love how it turned out.

I bought smores cookies at Tom Thumb that ended up being less than $5. It was a steal. It not only saved me time but I know it was almost just as cheap to buy them made rather than make them myself. For my reception, I plan on having at least 5 different types of cookies. I added a picture from our engagement photos and a “&” symbol that was used at my bridal shower.

I loved how the table turned out and loved even more that I didn’t have to spend tons of money on it being perfect. My favorite part was the personalize M&Ms.I know that I’ll have to buy more for my reception because my fiance and I keep eating them! We can’t get enough.

These are really pretty! I made all of our table centerpieces. I used votive holders (three different heights) that I bought while working at Yankee Candle. And then I got a great discount on the votives. They came out really pretty and were not expensive at all!

Such a cute idea. We ordered m&ms for my grandparents 50th anniversary and they really liked them! I cut out letters for my daughter’s banner. Talk about a hand cramp. I’m making sure to use that bad boy every year!

I am so not creative so I would be the last person for advice for a DIY wedding reception. I did have 1 friend that used my CDs to make a mix CD for music at the reception instead of a DJ.

That’s such a sweet set up you have! I really like the burlap name banner and the ‘&’ is really cute to go with the m&m’s. DIY is often so much more personal than it would be otherwise.
