This weekend has been a roller coaster of emotions.
Saturday morning, I woke up bright and early to pick up bulk chicken that I had ordered from Zaycon Foods. I was hosting a birthday party for both my sister and sister in law at my house that night. My sister’s birthday is next week and my sister in laws birthday was the previous weekend, so I was taking advantage of the situation to have everyone over at my house.
I cooked and cleaned all day til about 3pm when it was time to head to a funeral. No funeral is easy, especially it’s when someone dies unexpectedly and when so young. I sat next to my boyfriend during the ceremony and let it soak in that life is really short. I held his hand a little tighter than usual. The thought of losing him OR anyone that I love hurts my heart to think about. I know it shouldn’t take a funeral to make me realize how precious life is but sometimes losing sight of things is easy when I get wrapped up in my busy life. I left the funeral with mixed emotions. I was happy, sad, mad but most of all, I was ready to live.
Once I got home, it was a rush to get everything ready for the birthday celebration. I absolutely love hosting parties at our house. Between Quinn and my family, we had about 20 people coming over. The night was an overall success. There was plenty of food, beer and laughter going around. As the night was coming to an end and the kids were winding down off of their candy high, something crazy happened.
I hear, “Betsy, can you come here?” It was Quinn and my family had formed a semi-circle around him. Uh…. what was happening?
You guessed it.
He gave the most heart felt speech and before I know it he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. To say I was in shock would be an understatement. I still can’t believe I’m engaged. I keep staring at my ring with amazement. Thankfully, my WHOLE entire family (and Quinn’s) was in presence so I got lots of great pictures and even a video. These pictures were taken my my sister.
My engagement brought on a whole other emotion. I’m so incredibly happy and can’t wait for the next chapter in my life as Mrs. Segars. (Whoa, I completely forgot about my name changing.) I’m seriously impressed with my wedding ring. It’s absolutely perfect!
