I’ve officially known for 3 months that I am pregnant. It’s been a crazy 3 months. My mind has done nothing but think about this sweet baby 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A few weeks ago, we hosted a gender reveal party for our family and found out that we are having a baby boy! Now that we know the gender, my thoughts have been going even more crazy about all the products that I need, the adventures we are going to have and trying to remember all of the great advice that I’ve been given so far on my pregnancy.
Although this is our first baby, I’m lucky enough to be an aunt of 8 nieces and nephews ranging from ages 1-13. The past thirteen years with these sweet babies have brought me nothing but joy (and tons of babysitting hours). Thankfully, I’m extremely close with my sister and brother who have given me lots of advice and practice with their littles so hopefully make my transition into becoming a mommy not too bad.
Since my first appointment with my OB, she asked “Are you taking Prenatal Pills?” I always knew you should take them but had no idea they were that important. Call me naive but I’m just being honest. If you’re a momma that’s aged 35 or older, check out Rainbow Light for a prenatal /postnatal multivitamin formulated just for you. It’s made with natural, purity-tested ingredients and NO artificial preservatives, colors, flavors or sweeteners. Rainbow Light promotes healthy fetal development of brain, eyes, and bones while soothes muscle discomforts in mom. Use “HappyBaby” for a 20 % savings on Rainbow Light Prenatals and “HappyFamily” for 20% off other multivitamins at http://www.rainbowlight.com. Even better, illumai readers get 40% off with code 44THEDALLASSOCIALS at checkout.
I’ve been stocking up on items before baby gets here. Some of the items I’m able to use now during my pregnancy while other items will come in handy when my sweet bundle of joy makes his appearance. I’ve been absolutely giddy over the FUJIFILM INSTAX Mini 70 Camera. If you’re like me, you love to take pictures but those pictures either live on your phone or computer and never get printed. I always have great intentions of printing pictures at a local store but the reality is that is never happens. The FUJIFILM INSTAX camera prints your photo instantly. The camera comes in 6 colors and retails for $139.95. I’ve used my camera to take pictures of the nursery to put in the baby book. It will be perfect for when the baby is here and I can get pictures instantly without any extra work.
One piece of advice I’ve received more times than not is to keep things simple. As much as we all want to have a “pinterest perfect” world, it isn’t reality. While researching, I’ve found the Gerber Onesies one piece underwear to be cute, comfy and affordable. These Gerber Essentials come in solid colors / prints and can be worn alone or paired with a cute pair of leggings. They are extra soft 100% knit cotton which will keep baby warm all day. (Is it bad if I want a pair in my size?) If you’re like me, you can pass up a good deal, you can save on Gerber apparel at your favorite retailed with money-saving coupons to use in-store by finding coupons here.
One of the things that completely terrifies me about being a new mom is not knowing what to do when my baby is sick or when there is an emergency. I’ve found a product that has put me at ease about having a sick baby. The TempTraq wearable Bluetooth temperature monitor is the only wearable bluetooth temperature monitor that will continuously monitor your babies body temperature up to 24 hours. How amazing is that? It will measure and display temperatures in the app with easy to follow colors that indicate temperature levels. You can easily email the date you receive to your heath care professionals or family members. The Temptraq is only $19.99 and can be found online, Target, CVS and Walgreens. If you order at TempTraq.com, use the code BABBLEBOXX10 for a 10% discount which is only good through October 31st
I remember the first time I heard a mom tell me about “butt paste” and I thought they must be joking. Well, folks, it’s no joke. Every momma uses it, so why not use the best – Boudreaux’s Butt Paste. When your little has a diaper rash, Boudreaux will save the day. I’ve seen it work time and time again with my nieces and nephews. We’ve already bought quite a bit of it for our baby and have put it on every single registry. Pediatricians recommend using a diaper rash cream that leaves a thick barrier between the diaper and the skin which one of the reasons it works so well. There is currently three formulas offered – Original, Maximum Strength and All Natural.
I’ve been told that pregnancy and birth will make your hair do all sorts of things from growing thicker to falling out. It’s something that is bound to happen whether you like it or not but there is no reason not to take care of it as much as you can. I’m giving illumai Biome Care System for hair a try. They have a simple 3 step system that only uses 7 ingredients that gently cleanse and restore critical elements of the biome, finishing with extra hair and scalp protection against environmental toxins. It’s great for any hair type and makes your hair more manageable with each wash.
What other items would you suggest adding to my ever growing list of essentials that will make like easier for mom and baby?
