I’ve always been intrigued by eye lash extensions but I never took the time to really learn about them. I am a really low key person when it comes to pampering myself and my beauty routines. I get my nails and hair done on a whim, I’m horrible at scheduling appointments so things get done randomly and no type of schedule. This was one of the reasons that I was worried about getting eye lash extensions. I was afraid that since I’m horrible at taking time out of my day to get those sort of beauty maintenance appointments done that my eye lashes would start looking crazy and I would never have a full set of lashes again.
Fast forward to me being 9 months pregnant and ready to pop. I’m (finally) starting to realize that I have a lot of things that need to be done before the baby gets here. Many of those items are not mandatory but things that would only make my life easier once we welcome our little one. I looked back into getting my eyelashes done and thought it would be the perfect timing.
I decided the go for it and made an appointment at The Lash Lounge in Flower Mound. I am very low key when it comes to makeup so I was unsure how eyelash extensions would affect my every day routine. My routine consists of mascara, blush, eyeliner and lip gloss – not going to lie, that’s usually done in the car on my way my destination. When I arrived at the Lash Lounge, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Within 5 minutes of checking in with the receptionist, I was seen by my stylist to get the eyelashes applied.
The salon was very relaxing and welcoming. My stylist was very accommodating and made sure I had everything I needed. Laying in one position for 1.5 hours while you’re 9 months pregnant is no easy task but my stylist was super sweet about letting me move around and get as comfortable as I could. The bed that you lay on has arches in it and molds to your back so it was easy to take a little nap while the stylist worked her magic.
All I had to do was lay down with my eyes shut for the eyelashes to be put on one by one. Here’s a glimpse at what my eyelashes looked like before I had my extensions attached.
It took about 1.5 – 2 hours for a full set to be completed. I had no idea what to expect once the full set was on. I knew my eyelashes would look much fuller and I wouldn’t have to wear a lot of mascara. Before opening my eyes, the stylist asked if I had any questions about my lashes and gave me a few pointers on how to take care of them. My first question was “what type of mascara can I use?” The stylist mentioned I probably won’t need a lot of mascara but to stay away from oil based products.
Within a minute, I was able to open my eyes and see how amazing my lashes looked. My stylist was absolutely correct, I wouldn’t need to be wearing any type of mascara because my eyelashes were so full, long and dark already. I couldn’t believe how great they turned out.
Each eyelash that they add is attached to your natural eye lash with a medical grade glue. Once your natural eye lash falls out in a couple weeks, the extension will come off with it. I’ve had my eyelash extensions for about one week now and haven’t noticed a large amount of eyelashes that have fallen off. I’m able to still wash my face as I normally would and get them wet. I love that they don’t require extra work on my behalf and that it has drastically reduced the amount of time it takes to get ready every day. Although, I still have not had to use any type of mascara (which is amazing), I bought a special type of mascara at The Lash Lounge that I can use with these lashes that won’t hurt them at all.
Needless to say, I love my lashes and the amount of time it’s give me back each day. It’s one less thing that I’ll have to worry about once my baby arrives. I’m a bit sad I didn’t take the plunge earlier. If you’re interested in trying them out, check out The Lash Lounge in Flower Mound.
