What is your blog about: Posh + Pennywise is a place where I can share my knowledge and passion for beauty, fashion and all of the stylish things that go along with it! It’s a blog devoted to the deals/steals, ideas, tips, and ramblings from the mind of a fashionista addicted to the clearance rack.

What made you start blogging: Despite growing up in small-town Texas, I began my obsession with style and beauty at an early age. Instead of scribbling Mrs. Jonathon Taylor Thomas on my notebooks I recreated outfits I memorized from the pages of InStyle Magazine. Before tossing old issues out, the pages containing my favorite tips and trends were put into a special notebook I considered my own magazine hybrid. My passion continued to grow as I became more involved in both the theater and pageant realms. Surrounded by sequins and an endless amount of sparkle my eyes were opened to a whole new world of fashion history (thus my ongoing love and guilty pleasure for a little bling).

While in college I experimented with my own style and even took a summer a job in the retail industry. What most people considered mundane tasks, styling mannequins or folding tank tops, I looked forward to with an overwhelming sense of joy. I genuinely loved being around clothes all day, every day! It wasn’t until I had my first opportunity to style a customer that I realized my true calling. In fact, she was so impressed she asked for my contact info so I could give her closet aWhat Not to Wear-esque makeover. From that moment on I knew I not only had a passion for fashion, but more importantly I wanted to make people feel good about themselves – because when you look good you feel good!

After college I put my fashionista dreams on hold to take a job in the “real world,” but there was no denying my heart. Deep down I knew I needed my daily fashion fix, an outlet where I could be surrounded by fabulocity. I discussed the usual options with my friends – quitting my job and going back to retail, applying to local publications, becoming a really well dressed bum…but nothing sparked an interest until one day my sister suggested I start a blog. A place where I could share my knowledge and LOVE of beauty, style and all of the fabulous things along with it! A week later I created Posh + Pennywise – a blog devoted to the deals/steals, ideas, tips, and ramblings from the mind of a fashionista addicted to the clearance rack.

What is your greatest fashion find: My greatest fashion find would definitely have to be my grandmother’s vintage clutches from the 60s and 70s. Growing up in pageants and theater I’ve always had an afinity for playing dress-up in things that sparkle (and still do ha ha). One day while searching for new pieces to play with at my Gindy’s house I found three gorgeous clutches hidden in a box in the back. One was silver with a diamond clasp, one a more simple and elegant gold, and the other black and covered with 20s’esque black and white baubbles. I was only 7 years old at the time so naturally she let me “play” with them at her house, but I couldn’t take them home. When I graduated from college (Pony Up!) my grandmother gave me all three clutches and to this day I very seldom leave for a night on the town without one of them stylishly draped at my hip! Thanks Gindy! 🙂

Currently obsessed with: leopard print and ice cream inspired hues (think spearmint and cotton candy).
