I’ve been asked multiple times from my husband and family members what I want for Mother’s Day. After giving it a lot of thought, I really don’t want anything. I’m not huge on receiving gifts, I’d much rather give them. I’m not a materialistic person and while jewelry and candy is great, I would much rather have an experience or spend time with the ones I love.
This is my second Mother’s Day, the first was a blur. Bryce was only a couple months old last year and we didn’t do much for Mother’s Day. We had just got home from a road trip to Florida and we were beat. So this year, we wanted to change things up and have some fun. Quinn and I opted for a date night out. We eat out often but usually with Bryce in tow which means there is minimal adult conversation. We had one of our parents watch Bryce for the night and we headed to one of our favorite spots, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse. Nestled at the corner of Legacy Tower, we spent the night indulging in the best food, tasty drinks and great conversation. If I’m going to be completely honest, most of that conversation was about our child.
We started the evening with King Crab Deviled Eggs that were to die for. Each Fleming’s Chef curates a local menu in addition to the regular menu that is offered for a short period of time, around 1-2 months. This menu is full of great items that aren’t regularly on the menu. The King Crab Deviled Eggs were the perfect treat to start our meal.
Did I mention they were topped with caviar and served with a side of bacon?
My go to meal is usually any type of fish but since we were at one of the best steakhouses in Dallas I couldn’t pass up a juicy filet mignon. My husband was stoked when the waiter informed us that they offered a bone in New York Strip. Before the waiter could even tell us more about the menu, we knew what we wanted.
After our main course, I could barely move because I somehow ate my entire steak – something that I never do. It was so good, I couldn’t stop eating it. When would waiter brought out the dessert menu, I thought there was no way I could eat anymore until I say they offered a Walnut Turtle Pie. I’m obsessed with Pecan Turtle Pie so I knew I had to at least try it.
Needless to say, that whole entire pie was eaten. My husband and I devoured it in it’s entirety. My Mother’s Day meal was the best gift I could have received. It was much needed time away with my husband and a fantastic meal that I didn’t have to cook! Our waiter went above and beyond to make sure everything was beyond perfect, I couldn’t have asked for a better night.
