The holidays are officially in full swing!
My favorite thing about the holidays is being able to experience the joy in my kid’s eyes. I love decorating our house with Christmas trees, watching the kids light up while opening presents, screaming with joy while playing with their brothers, and decorating gingerbread houses. When we take a look back at the holidays, it really isn’t about the presents but all the memories we make together which is why I’ve been very adamant about gifting experiences.
When you give the gift of experiences, you get to enjoy all those little moments together and make memories that will last a lifetime. I’ve learned that filling the house with toys and filler items for Christmas (or any holiday) is not the way to go. Kids don’t need a house packed full of stuff. I’m constantly getting rid of kids items from my house and my kids rarely notice because they really don’t care about any of it.
My kids thrive off of the many experiences that we do together. Not only do they love exploring new places but we build so many memories together that my kids talk about all the time. Not a week goes by that my oldest son doesn’t bring up a fun play place or a vacation that our family has been on together. For holidays, we love to gift experiences to our kids whether it be a surprise trip around the holiday or something we plan for the future.
