Since 2011, Dirk Nowitzki and dozens of sports all-stars gather to play a friendly game of Baseball to benefit the Heroes Foundation. The Heroes Foundation provides Dallas youth the opportunity to participate in team baseball, basketball, educational and cultural curriculum’s, all while building self-confidence. Their programs allow youth to learn the fundamentals of baseball and basketball through clinics, instructional leagues, one-on-one training and tournaments. Through their program many lives change for the better!
Nothing warms my heart more than seeing Professional athletes giving back to the community and that is exactly what the Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game is all about. Some of the athletes that were in attendance included, Monta Ellis, Devin Harris, Bernard James and Shane Larkin, plus head coach Rick Carlisle; Dallas Cowboys Dez Bryant, Tony Romo, Jason Witten, Terrance Williams, plus head coach Jason Garrett; former Dallas Cowboys Terrell Owens and Bradie James; Dallas Stars Tyler Seguin; former Texas Rangers greats Iván “Pudge” Rodriguez and Michael Young; former Dallas Mavs Jason Terry; MLB All-Star Vernon Wells; actors Josh Henderson and Geoff Stults; and more.
These guys joked around, played a good game of baseball but most of all gave back to the community. While the players weren’t up to bat or on the field, they were autographing memorabilia for fans, shaking hands or high-fiving little ones in the stands. It was a great site to see and brought so much joy to these little kids.
Great picture of Jason Garret, Tony Romo, Michael Young and Jason Witten provided by the Dallas Cowboys Facebook Page. The Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game is played every year. Don’t miss out next year, tickets are always under $15 and it’s a great event for your whole family.
