Online dating is the new norm when singles are looking for a significant other. Just a few years ago, I feel like online dating wasn’t talked about, people weren’t as open about their encounters from online. It was so “new” to people that they thought it was wrong or were embarrassed to tell others they were looking for love on a computer. As time goes on, people of all ages are realizing that they don’t have time to actively go searching for their future spouse or they don’t want to go to the same old spots to find someone (e.g. bars, clubs, etc). According to the latest numbers from Pew, “5% of Americans who are currently married or in a long-term partnership met their partner somewhere online. Among those who have been together for ten years or less, 11% met online.”
Approximately 75% of my singles friends are active on online dating sites. They all seem to say the same thing, “why not?” If a website or app is free and you can search online during your down time, there is no reason not to. One of the top performing apps is Hot or Not. Over the years Hot or Not has turned into a dating service, Meet Me. The concept is easy. The app will pull up pictures of singles near you and either click Yes or No.
If you happen to click hot on someone’s picture, and they think the same of you, the app will notify both people that they have made a match. In which case, it’ll be up to you to turn it into an actual love connection. Of course, you can always decline and move on if you’re not feeling it anymore. Download the app today: Android / iPhone. If you aren’t into apps or don’t want to add anything else to your phone, you can still look around on tryHotorNot.com.
No matter if you’re looking of not, I highly recommend liking their page and joining their $1000 sweepstakes. Enter before February 15, 2014.
