Kroger Opens 124,000 Sq Ft Store in Forney

Blog· Entertainment

It’s not everyday that you can say that your grocery store in 124,000 square feet. Yes, you read that right – one hundred twenty four thousand square feet. I stepped into the new Kroger located in Forney, Texas and didn’t get the feel that I was in a grocery store. This store was  magical.  I took a tour of the store to see all that it offered.  This wasn’t just a grocery store, it is much more.

Kroger is now offering clothes, jewelry, housewares and more in their new stores.

I was super excited to hear that I was meeting with my group at the Starbucks located inside of Kroger. I love to grab a coffee while shopping. That was until I saw their drink station. This station not only offered your regular fountain drinks, but slurpess and milk shakes! No matter what you are in the mood for, they have it.

We started our tour in the produce department. The Kroger produce department was just as good as any Sprouts or Whole Foods that I have been to. They had vegetables that I had never heard of and more mushrooms that I could count on both my hands. I love that I don’t have to drive to a specialty store to get products that are not at your usual grocery store.

As most of you are more than aware, I’m obsessed with Mexican food. Not only do I eat it out all the time, but Mexican food is one of my favorites to cook at home too. My go to tortillas are always the Kroger store brand. The reason is because they make them homemade in the store. It’s serious freshness that no other tortilla company can come close to.

Handmade tortillas from Kroger are highly recommended!

Each section of the store offered more than you could ever imagine. Here’s a few examples. The fish market carries 45 different varieties of fish on any given day. The grill section allows you to choose a piece of meat from their department and they will grill it however you would like.  The deli has a computer system where you can input your order, go shopping and return to pick up your meat so you don’t have to wait around.  We live in a fast pace world and with Kroger giving us these options, they are making our lives easier.

The healthy living section will give Whole Foods a run for their money. If you are gluten free or have food allergies, this section will make you very happy. You can see on the picture below, that each gluten free item is clearly marked on the price tag. Since this store is so large, they are able to stock not only a lot of product but many different choices for consumers. They carried more varieties of almond milk then I knew even existed.

I’ve also been a fan of Kroger’s wine and beer section. The pick six and mix beer section is awesome. It’s a perfect way to try new beer and discover what you like. Kroger has also teamed up with local beer companies such as Deep Ellem Brewery and Rahr and Sons and is selling their products in store.  You will find 500 different beer types in the Kroger Forney aisles!

Kroger offers beer from local Breweries such as Deep Ellem Brewery and Rahr and Sons.

If beer isn’t your thing, then I’m going to assume you love wine. This Kroger features over 1800 different labels so you can be as picky as you want. Did you know that the most expensive wine is placed at the top of the shelves, the mid price wine located in the middle and the cheap wine is located at the bottom? So next time you’re wanting a cheap bottle of wine, you know where to look! If you’re like me you like to buy your wine in bulk and receive a 10% discount. Let’s be real, you can never have too much wine.

After venturing through all the food, I noticed I was only half way through Kroger. The other half of the store was full of  housewares, clothes, jewelry and more.

Housewares are just a small portion of what Kroger has to offer in Forney, Texas.

A few of the things you can find in the housewares area are pots, pans, and small appliances like a KitchenAid Mixer.  For those of you with children, there is a whole section of children’s toys which include baby dolls, tonka trucks and My Little Pony. Have a kid’s birthday party to attend and don’t have a gift? No reason to worry, Kroger is a one stop shop for all of your needs.

Just when I thought I saw it all, I arrived in the clothes department. This wasn’t a small “we have two shirts for sale” department. They had everything from under garments to clothes shoes to jewelry and accessories for men, women and children.

You don’t have to worry about if your clothes will fit or not because there is a fitting room located in the middle of the clothes department. Send your spouse shopping for groceries while you shop around the clothing and housewares.

Located next to the Clothing department there is a huge baby and children’s section with everything you would ever need for your child.

Inside of Kroger, you will find a Fred Meyer’s Jeweler that carries all types of jewelry for your every need. Remember when I said this is a one stop shop? I wasn’t kidding!  They have everything you would ever need packed into one store. I look forward to more of the stores to pop up about Texas. Until there is one in your town, stop by the Forney location to see what the future holds for Kroger!

I know this year has dragged on and on for many pe I know this year has dragged on and on for many people but it has flown by to me. I'm 100% sure it has something to do with welcoming Myles into this world during the height of a pandemic and keeping a toddler alive at the same time. I can't wait for Christmas morning to make memories with my little family (even though Christmas shopping isn't complete and I haven't even thought about wrapping presents). It will all fall in to place, it always does. We didn't attend our favorite Christmas events this year or get pictures with Santa so this random Santa picture will do and I'm 100% happy with it. If this year has taught you anything, let it be finding the joy in the little things ❤
The holidays are quickly approaching! 🎄 Althoug The holidays are quickly approaching! 🎄 Although things might be a bit different this season, we're still enjoying some of our favorite foods and traditions. This year we're incorporating ordering family meal kits from @chuysrestaurant for not only my family but extended family that we might not be able to hang with this holiday. It's a simple way to spread the joy with loved ones, eat delicious food and not forget the reason for the season. #ad #nachoaverageholiday
Family pictures are always so much fun.... this ye Family pictures are always so much fun.... this year we got to attempt it twice thanks to sweet Bryce. Thankfully the second time around he cooperated. As painful as they may be, I'm so glad we get these done every year. I love looking back at them and see how much we've all changed and how much the kids have grown!
Can y'all believe the end of the year is here? We Can y'all believe the end of the year is here? We got our family pictures back and they look great other than the fact that Bryce decided not to participate. We got one shot with my entire family and Bryce is off to the side playing in poison ivy. 🤦‍♀️
