When I first moved to Dallas (nine years ago), I often found myself thinking, “There is nothing to do here but eat and shop!” It turns out that’s not really true – there is plenty of stuff to do in Dallas – but many of the really good things do, indeed, involve eating and shopping. And in my nine years I’ve had plenty of chances to eat at some fabulous restaurants in the Dallas area. But my favorite restaurant – the one we always find ourselves at when we have a babysitter for a couple of hours – is Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill in Addison.
You guys. It is amazing.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so…have a look.
That, my friends, is a BLT. With mozzarella, bacon, pesto, avocado, vinaigrette, and a fancy mayonnaise I can’t spell, all on ciabatta bread. It looks delicious…and it tasted even better.
From the minute you step into Kenny’s, you know you’re in for a treat. With an inviting vibe and clean, modern décor, the restaurant is known for its top-notch customer service and high-quality food.
Maybe my favorite part of Kenny’s, though, is the popovers. Have you ever had a popover? It’s a fluffy hybrid of a crescent roll and a pastry – part crispy, part soft, and always best with a pat of butter. If you’ve never had a popover before, it would be worth the drive to Addison for just this experience.
Be sure to try the crostinis if you’re up for an appetizer. Warm slices of filet mignon over a flat toasted crouton and drizzled in bernaise? Yes, please.
For dinner, I usually have the Mac & Cheese and a salad (because I am boring like that – even though this fancy Mac & Cheese is anything but boring). My husband tries something different every time we go, and has yet to be disappointed (pork chops and steak are among his top choices).
And for dessert? Key Lime Pie.
Clearly, I like the food. But really? The customer service plays just as big a role in bringing us back. I always feel like the wait staff’s attention to detail is spot-on, and I feel like they genuinely care about providing a top-notch dining experience for their guests.
You’ll want to make reservations before you visit, especially in the evening. Weekends are busy, but you can always arrive early and enjoy the bar first!
You can take a look at the menu here.
Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill is located at 5000 Beltline Rd., #775, Dallas, TX 75242.
Have you been to Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill? What is your favorite thing to eat there?

We LOVE the ahi tuna nachos! Also, we visited during restaurant week an they honored my request to leave the truffle oil off of my husband's adult Mac and cheese (I can't stand truffle oil, the smell makes me lose my appetite, and I've made this request before at another restaurant and they seemed put out by my request, then gave me watered down truffled mashed potatoes anyway). It is the little things like that that keep us coming back. We've never had bad service or a bad meal, we can trust in their consistency. Salmon is wonderful, as is the filet, the popovers, everything! One gripe, the lack of consistency with my Cosmo, one was strong, and one was not so strong… Oh well, still loved it 🙂
