Margarita Madness: Delicious MUST Try Margaritas

I have a love/hate relationship with Tequila. We’ve had our ups and downs (especially during college) but it’s a liquor that  I always seem to go right back to. When January slowly turned into February, I was so excited. Want to know why? February 22nd is National Margarita Day!

No, you don’t have to wait til National Margarita Day to actually celebrate this delicious drink but it doesn’t hurt to have a full day all to itself.  Did you know that the World’s first margarita machine was invented in Dallas?  In honor of this holiday, yes it’s a holiday, I’ve found some of the best margarita recipes around.

Why settle for the plain old margarita when you can add some extra oomph? Enjoy these amazing margarita drinks!

Chili Margarita

• 1 ½ oz Blue Nectar® Silver
• ¾ oz ancho chili-infused liqueur
• 1 oz Cointreau®
• 1 oz fresh lime juice

Shake all ingredients, strain over ice into a lowball glass.  Garnish with a lime wedge.

Anchorita Drink Recipe

• ¾ part Ancho Reyes
• 1½ parts Milagro Silver Tequila
• 1 part Fresh Lime Juice
• ½ part Agave Nectar

Using a lime wedge, wet the rim of an old fashioned glass, salt it, and set aside. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Add ice, shake, and double strain over fresh ice into the glass. Garnish with a lime wedge. ( Ancho Reyes is available at Goody Goody, Spec’s, and Sigel’s)

 

Texas Spicy Margarita Recipe

(from Kenny’s)

• 2 oz Cazadores
• 2-3 jalapeno slices
• ¼ oz agave
• Lime squeeze
• Muddle
• ½ oz lemon juice
• ½ oz orange juice
• Float with ½ oz Grand Marnier

   The Honeymoon

• 1 ½ oz Blue Nectar® Silver
• 1 ½ oz honey syrup (equal parts honey and water)
• 1 ½ oz fresh lime juice

Shake all ingredients, strain over ice into a lowball glass. Garnish with grated lime zest.

 Margarita Martini

(from Battuto)

• 1 ½-oz Premium Tequila
• 1/2-oz Cointreau
• 2-oz Fresh-squeezed homemade sweet and sour mix

Combine all ingredients into an ice filled shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled martini glass rimmed with salted.
