I’m always looking for a chance to get out of the house and get together with my girlfriends. I’ve been wanting to try a BYOB Painting class because of all the great things I’ve seen online. There’s one problem – I’m not an artistic person. I was a bit worried that I would go into the class and come out with a complete disaster. Regardless of my worries, I planned a blogger painting party with some of my friends so we could all give a try.
Pinot’s Palette Lakewood offered so many different paintings to choose from, it was a bit overwhelming. I liked so many of them but I wanted to pick something I knew the whole group would love. (View all the painting options here.) We decided to paint the Dallas skyline because it’s obviously the best skyline in the country. This is what we would be painting – or attempting to paint.
We gathered at Pinot’s Palette Lakewood around 6:45pm and had a few minutes to grab some wine and snacks that we all brought. We were able to bring any types of drink and food into the class which worked out perfectly. Everybody brought a snack or bottle of wine and we shared it all. Pinot’s Palette Lakewood provided wine glasses and napkins, it was nice to not have to worry about those little things.
Below are blogger Alice from Thrill of the Chases, Carrie from Carrie Elle, and Amber from Brunch with Amber before we started our painting. (If you haven’t already, stop by their blogs and support other local bloggers.)
Our painting class started promptly at 7pm so we would be done painting at 9pm, but I’m pretty sure we took longer than expected. Our teacher wore a microphone and stood at the front of the class so it was easy to see and hear everything she was saying. I made sure to pay extra attention since I had no idea what I was doing. She walked us through each step slowly and thoroughly which I greatly appreciated. I love that the picture she was painting was more of a guideline of what we were drawing, not something we had to draw. We didn’t have to use the same colors as her and each structure that we draw was up to our discretion.
I loved looking at everyone’s painting throughout the night. Our personalities really shined through each painting. Some opted for straight lines while others were more carefree with their paintings.
We were able to paint the buildings any color that we wanted and add any additional details that we thought were necessary.
Here is my finished painting. It’s now hanging beautifully in my office. It’s not perfect, but I’m happy with the results.
The painting party was a great success and everyone had such a great time. We enjoyed the freedom to paint on our own or to paint the help of the teacher. Every painting turned out awesome and everybody left happy. If you’re looking for a fun outing, check out Pinot’s Palette – Lakewood. They have classes almost nightly, their full schedule can be found here.
Pinot’s Palette Lakewood is located at 6465 E. Mockingbird Lane, Suite 430, Dallas, TX 75214.
